  1. Thanks so much for doing this. I have set up the screen as you suggested and I am busily backtesting.

    It is a great system.

I am really looking forward to part 2.

    Very much appreciated.

$Cost. Thanks much for the VV screens.

In part 2 could you explain if you use the Buy, Sell, Hold recommendations. In the example, if buying when VV said hold, and selling when VV said buy, there would have been a profit.

    Thank you.

    Dear Costaverageman,

When you average into a position, you must be quite confident, that it will snap back ? Is this backed by your fundamental research with Vector Vest ?

    Cheers

Do you consider buying short puts, you´ll earn premium and if it hits the strike, you´ll get the stock at the price you considered cheap.

Put on some sector shorts here and sold some short term swing trades......Got out of MVV and DDM and QLD and most of my sector leveraged long positions and took some short....Got long Some EWJ today as well....

I hate to spoil the party here, but I'm sure you guys saw the full onslaught of selling pressure today.....DOW holds 13K, but you guys should be smart enough to understand that this carries no meaning in my world.....The internals broke down today....Only 13 industries out of 190 were in the green today on Vectro Vest, but when you look closer only Food (Dairy), Food (Bev-Soft Drink) and Food (Candy) were and should have been up, Food (Flour, Grain, Sugar) was only held up by CPO having a good day....

    Other standout industries today were:
Pollution Control----Filled with small cap names most had a decent day...No complaints here

The US royalty trust had a decent day, but you could imagine 8% DY would be a safe placec to hide during a day like today...

Shipping was mixed, but managed to hold the positive line...Once again those safe yields come into play again....

Petroleum (Prod/Pipeline) was in the green, but almost every large and mid cap stock in this sector was down it was the many small cap names that had a decent day here.....

Throwing out the ultra small cap weighting of Home textiles and Instruments control as two that were in the green today you get down to 11 industries that had a positive day.... but when you look at the internals of those industries its paints a stock specific story that managed to keep the industry in the green.....Metal Producers (Distributors)---Only two of six held up and MITSY (AN ADR) the largest of the stocks was in the green....Retail (Consumer Electronic)- shows up in the green falsely as that micro cap that jumped 130% today was in this beaten up industry today....Most of the Micro caps in the Computer (Systems) industry held up today skewing the data...So now we are really down to only 8 of the 190 industries that closed in the green...Throw out CPO actions and you get down to 7...

My point is that today was one of those days when the market spelled out a story to you if you look...I don't know what the catalyst was, but I can imagine it probably had to do with the rush to close out your carry trade in the Agriculture chemical sector....The hot "YEN" money was in that area of the market and those things took a dive all day.....Of course this had a carry over affect to other areas of the market that have significantly outperformed over the last 10 months and the ball started rolling today...Welcome to MAY is what I like to say and remember your history....We come into this may with inflation numbers hot and GDP of 1.3%......Draw your own conclusion!!!!!

Sitting on my hands with a boat load of cash sitting in floating rate funds with some nice size short positions, bought on 4/25 and yesterday.....I still got many long positions, but this is no time for a new VV long screen to be posted.......The short screens are pretty nice as well and in some respect easier to justify....

Watching the FOREX closely for USD/JPY and EUR/JPY pressure....The Carry trade is still in force in my opinion and sometimes I feel that I'm the only swing trader that isn't 80% leveraged...

  9. Happy Cinco De Mayo and Derby Day....

Results of the race are below....

    Net around $15,500.

For a while I was checking my results and couldn't find where I had the right combination, but I was hoping I had put the #5 Horse in the right superfecta.....I had the feeling that I would have to hit the superfecta to make any money today with the amount I bet......

  10. It's been a while since I last wrote in the old journal and what a year it has been. The Anomoly has just doubled for the year of 2007 and the selling has just begun for me.....I'm not short by any means just going to the sidelines....I hope to be 50% Cash by the end of the day....

GL to all you traders and lets hope the move continues, but 14000 will be with me on the sidelines with at least 1/2 my CASH....

I'm not getting out of any particlular sector, but I will be reducing almost all positions.....Tonight I will post all my closed positions and you can see how I was able to get a double on such a large a diverse portfolio.....Let me thank WNR, TNH, CF, CAF, BTJ, JRJC, CTEL, ZOLT, CALM, PCR, VMSI, VSR, BIDU, GTLS, IESC, SGR, FTO, FTK, MXE, MDR to name a few of the best performers for the year........
