Pretty complicated - requires quite a bit of special industry knowledge. How good ist VECTOR VEST btw?? Charly
Vector Vest has greatly improved my performance and my ability to watch the internals of the market in a way I had never experienced before.....There is no doubt in my mind that without the special screens I have created in the software I would have never found 1/3 of the positions I have held and made good money on....The abilty to track industry movement with that kind of accuracy has made my style of investing more profitable than most of the best hedge funds.....I first and foremost will always use this service and will never again let the professionals manage my money, unless I'm trying to get very country specific. MINDX and MCHFX as an example....Or the Direxion leveraged funds.....Other than funds like those and a few floating rate bond funds the Open-end mutual funds will never see a penny of expenses from me...... I have the time to become very familiar with thousands of stocks and try to take a long term thought process with every pick I choose, reguardless if I sell them the same day.....I don't mind buying high as long as I buy alot more much lower before the turn occurs.....The long term thought process in my thinking is that the turn will occur eventually and a catalyst must be at least possible for that to happen......XMSR, AMD and VG all would be considered complete dogs and perfect shorts many months back, but AMD has the catalyst to move steadily higher at some point.... I covered my AMD on FEB 26th and got long making a small mistake at 15.65, but I averaged down on March 5th and then again on April 4th before earnings and sure enough I got back into the green on this stock....I toady sold out all the positions bought before the 2/27 hiccup and the AMD bought on march 5th for no gain, but now I got AMD with 15% to the downside before I start losing money on the position.....The beauty of Dollar Cost Averaging.... $COSTAverageMAN
Sure I would be happy to.....Give me a little time and I will prepare a small presentation..It updates at 7:00 pm Eastern for the regular VV program..I will post by at least 8:00 pm tonight with pics from what it all looks like and how I use it.... $COSTAverageMAN
I have Vectorvest. I like it a lot but i am really a novice with it. I would be interested in your "lesson" . Any input greatly appreciated.
Vector Vest Day 1 Dinner was quite nice and very country tonight.....The wife fried up some fresh crappie tonight that I had caught throughout the day....It's was a rainy day here on Lake Lanier, but the fishing was great everytime I took the bass boat out.....I guess what I'm saying is as much time as investing/trading does take up in my life I always make time for those that are close to me and my favorite things to do in life.....Money should never change the way you think about life.....If you have always been a hard worker and all of a sudden come into a small fortune you still have that want to work hard at whatever project you attempt.... So to VV (Vector Vest)..... Everyday I will go over a different screen I have developed using the software and more important the UNISEARCH function.... Tonight I will start with one of my safer searches display the results and present what stocks met that criteria as of todays close..... This search has produced many of winners in the past and I last used it on March 19th and proceeded to buy and still holding all of these positions with some nice capital gains..... P/E less than 15 P/S less than 3.20 Sales Growth greater than 60 Relative Timing greater than .70 on a (0-2.00 scale) Exchange is Nasdaq and NYSE with and without options VV Value divided by Actual Price greater than 1.5 50 day avg volume greater than 15000 Earnings Yield greater than 8 Market Cap greater than 400 million Growth Rate greater than 14 Sales Per Share greater than $6.00 As you can see the screen is not very risky at all!!!!!!!! A list of what came up is on the picture below...... The problem with this screen is you know you are always going to get a number of petroleum stocks in the screen......Although they are the ones that have produced some great numbers out of the bunch..... TAM became available on the screen on 3/26 and I took the trade as my only airline long position at the time.....BTW airliners are looking kind of interesting to start putting on a small position....I haven't yet, but those things are just too profitable when they get moving together.... TTMI became available on the screen on 3/20/2007 but I did not take the trade because the industry was ranked 175 out of 190 and it just barely met the market cap and RT standards....ASLO the US doesn't stand a chance in circuit boards anymore... NPK bacame available on the screen on 3/21 but I did not take the position because the industry was ranked 171 out of 190 and it just barely met the market cap criteria....ALSO I had just bought IRBT and WHR in that sector and was still holding MIDD from last year.... GIFI became available on the screen on 3/23/2007 and even though I was new to this name I liked what I read and put the position on..... BEE became available on the screen on 3/30/2007 when the EY went to 8.00, but I disliked this REIT for a number of technical reasons at the time..... IVAC became available on the screen on 4/11/2007 when the EY went above 8.00, but no other indicators suggested a buy on the 7% drop that day... Some of the stocks have fallen off the screen, but that is mostly due to the fact that as Price moves up it becomes harder to meet the Value/Price criteria and EY criteria...This does not mean that they are to be sold just praise yourself that you bought them on the cheap when this happens..... UBS, APC, ASML, SDX, LRCX, RS, GLBL, WTI, ATPG, VQ, AEL, BLX, MAD ALL these stocks that showed up on 3/19/2007 (The day I ran the screen) did not show up on this screen today, but for illustrative purposes I wanted to show you a little about how Vector Vest has helped me pick winners and time the market better.....Many more basic lessons to come on Vector Vest!!!!! $COSTAverageMAN
To give you a look at only half of the extent of parameters you can setup just in looking into the history of the stock....I choose Hero as an example, because it feel into the same screen as above and it shows a beautiful transition from a Sell or Hold to a buy.......I don't usee all these settings and you can build whatever you find relavent, just showing you guys half of the history tools...... $COSTAverageMAN
