Do you use a stock screener? If so, have you found a decent one. I've used the one on stockcharts.com, but I don't really care for it. I would like to screen weekly charts along with some technical indicators if I can find one that would accomplish this. Jon
XRTX----WOW After hours just got done reading report........This has been on my list for so long......I didn't see that they were reporting today, until it was too late..........BOOOOOOOO I am so HAPPY I was wrong about today......What a great move!!!! GNBT----WOW what a drop at the end of the Day(-40+% from high to low).....I can just see people loading up this afternoon thinking it's going to go nuts again tomorrow--- for like the 20th day in a row....
Jon I do use a screener (actually quite a few).....I have many different things I am looking for......I use vector Vest to screen, So there are things on this program that may not work for other screeners........ OK I will give one up ( A Basic one) Parameters-----(Results were for today) Stock Avg Vol (50 Day Moving Average)----( >= )----10000 Stock EPS(Earnings Per Share)----26 week Delta---(>20.0%) Stock Value---26 week delta---(>20.0%) Stock GRT (Growth Rate)---26 Week Delta---(>20.0%) Stock Exchange---Amex, NYSE, Nasdaq (All Option Available Stocks) Stock Value---( > )---Stock High Stock Price (Split Adjusted)---New High---Over 26 weeks run Weekly Results were in my hand last night.....and this is today's performance DBRN--(+1.29%) CHAP--(+16.54%) had earnings today SHOO--(+1.01%) OVTI--(+10.11%) got upgraded today--around 11:30am GYMB--(-.43%) This is one of the many Screens I use....And Vector Vest allows me to screen over 8000 stocks updated daily.....I use their live program to watch stocks early in the morning first to move I'm in!!! You know My favorite screener-----Is actually a certain Mutual Fund Company....In my opinion they are the Best......I have located almost 500 stocks that they own in many of their different funds.....I have them all written down with the most recent price they averaged in at.....When any of those stocks pop up into one of my screeners or the price just close to where they bought in at.....I know I have a position I don't have to research---I trust that the people that run these funds don't make many mistakes......If I gave the name away on an open Forum like this MY Best secret would be out....(I know it's no secret), but I like to think of it this way!!!! $COSTAverageMAN

You have an excellent thread running here! Thank you for your honesty and for sharing so much of your work with the rest of us. I was actually thinking of you and your diversified portfolio yesterday when the market turned. I'm sure there were some uneasy feelings watching so many great trades turn red. Your note about reaching the 8-figure threshold was telling. If I may be so bold as to offer you a bit of advice... please; keep doing just what you are doing. I expect if you hold on you will be back to (and well beyond) that level in a matter of days. I loved your list of stocks that you were stopped out of. They happen to be some of my current favorites, and I actually bought GILD, BWNG, VIMC and CSTR yesterday at the close. Most of these performed quite well today. And you are so wise to seek out the dividend paying stocks. They will always be your best anchor is stormy markets. Your tip about watching the mutual fund buys and their average costs is excellent. These "generals" of the market will powerfully protect their interests with resources far greater than yours of mine. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Your work and success is an inspiration. Best regrads, Joe ps: Microsoft has delayed every upgrade of Windows in their company's history. It is simply their way of stoking the public's interest and anticipation. The news yesterday (and subsequent selloff) was a great buying opportunity IMHO. Bill Gates is more responsible for our economy's productivity improvements in the last 20 years than any American in history. Just look at your own portfolio spreadsheet! Imagine doing that 30, 20, even 10 years ago. The US economy is in great shape and America's productivity will continue to increase as Gates improves his products. The Fed will continue to raise interest rates, as they must, until Americans get wise and start saving their money! I believe our economy (and markets) can withstand another 1% increase in Fed Funds rates. Ok... Not I'm done.
How did you come up with this buy price? i'm still holding from $84 and looking to add more for the long term. But I hate trying to pick bottoms when stocks are in downtrends.
