  1. Here it is year's of equity and ideas all on a blog.
I do this now because I feel like I will be liquidating most positions in the coming months but my portfolio returned me 55 % return in 2005 and up over 23 % so far in 2006. HEDGE FUNDS would be jealous.

Yes I do own alot and its hard to stay on top of, but retirement is just that boring. So feel free to criticize any of these stocks or do research and buy into them.

  2. if you -average down- into positions

at what point do you -cry uncle- and take a loss?

what % does each stock in your portfolio
    take ?

do you try not to let any sector or stock
    become too large a postition?

do you ever use options ?

what type of commissions do you pay?

    do you ever daytrade ?

    good luck to you

  4. Seth

    Good questions, Here we go

I Dollar cost my equity at -15% for same number of share as I bought 1st time.

I then Dollar cost again at -30% for 2 times original amount then start praying (I just have limit buys at these levels when I put in original orders)

I will hold at these levels if It's a long term outlook but if It was a speculation that whent wrong I will sell out at a loss on good strength. Hasn't happened that often over past couple of years.

2000 was a different story I just liquidated and whent to cash when market started to correct. Saved MILLIONS!!! Had been buying puts too early that year.

    Energy Trust are 15%+
Index and Closed End Funds and ETF's and Mutual funds are 35%
    About 30% US equity
    About 20% International Equity

I overwieght Sectors in US, Like now Tech, Oil and energy, Steel, Miners, Finacial, Drugs, Healthcare, Alternative plays

I sell Calls on my losers to recover losses but no more than 3 months out.
And piss away a good amount Buying puts but I remember how they saved my ass in 2000, I use My income producing funds and equity to do most of this.

I have Fideilty for my Mutual Funds and UBS for the rest

FID account gets no action, But UBS I pay a flat rate of 1.65% of acount balance (OUCH) but unlimited trading. And good help along the way.

Options Just Zero Cost Collars, Protecive Puts, and Covered calls
No real speculation but I should play around more with naked calls

Thks For The Q's and I hope this is a good list to look at and do your research from there.

  5. Congrats on your returns in 2005.
You do have a huge portfolio though, would probably take me days to fully analyse and understand it. I'm more of a concentrated portfolio guy, but your approach seems to work pretty well for you.
I'll give a more brief technical opinion on your portfolio.
Brazilian market seems like it will remain strong.
Energy/oil sector might lose some gas, especially if a recession starts hitting.
Chinese/Japanese/Asian equities seem to be in a secular uptrend. I like Chinese markets best, up 30% from bottom(in around 6 months) after a 4 year bear market. More upside I think.
ACAP may be forming a cup and handle base. Earnings have been exploding.
    BGG is bullish.
INTC may be shaking out weak holders now, but I need a strong upday today and to close the gap before I would consider a long position.
    JHFT looks nice.
I might take some of these stocks that I like and use them for my own purposes :D(other than posting them in my thread).
    Thanks.
EDIT: Did away with the questions because someone else asked them while I was still replying.

  6. THKS GF I appreciate your thoughts.

Been watching those energy closely and trimming positions

Like CHK 2000 shares at 18 (I think it was the low of the year but that was my order) sold 1500 at 39 (nice profit)

    eog 500 at 58 and sold 300 at 84

ois sold 1/2 of position 3 months ago during oil's 1st little hickup

BGG was a pretty new position put on in the last month

  7. Why I like Energy Trust for LONG TERM 5 yr OUTLOOK
HTE is energy trust in canada with a 13% yield
9 yr's of proven reserves, 75% oil output mix of light and heavy, 25 % Nat. Gas, Pay out less than net income (A must have in Trust)
Simple assumptions. So Performance may vary.

But general Idea is the same.

    1600 shares HTE
    Cost $46,598.00

Todays Plan 400 shares at 30.00 and adding 200 more every .33c decline until a 1600 share position( all assumptions)

Todays dollar Cost 1600 shares at 29.12 (Assumption)
