Wannabe Hedgies and Start Ups: An Event For YOU

Discussion in 'Educational Resources' started by ambienCR, Oct 1, 2009.

  1. Hi Folks,

    Our September hedge fund - private equity networking event was a great success with a good number of funds and a family office and fund of funds in attendance. Our next fund networking event will be on October 27th at Lowenstein Sandler. You can sign up here.

    We will also have our Fairfield / Westchester fund networking event on October 13th in Greenwich, CT. This event will be at Withers Bergman. Withers Bergman LLP is an international law firm dedicated to the personal, business and philanthropic interests of successful individuals, their families and advisers. You can sign up here.

    We have less than a handful of tickets available for our October 6th, half day marketing training / "cram" session for startup and emerging funds. We'll cover aspects of fund-raising, presentation, due diligence, allocation, continued investor relations and operational risk. This event is ideal for General Partners or Limited Partners of funds. It allows fund managers and marketers to see the competitive market place for capital raising and business development. This event is for fund managers, portfolio managers, limited partners, marketing and business development personnel and vendors in the field looking to expand their knowledge of the business development and compliance process. There will be a lunch reception preceding the event and an after work reception following.

    Confirmed Speakers include:

    * W. Michael Crawford, CP Eaton. CP Eaton is a global placement agent with offices in North America, Europe and Asia. They have more than $31 billion in total capital raised for 55 funds.
    * Stuart Feldman, Senior Vice President Jefferies Group. Stuart Feldman leads The Jefferies Group's Capital Introduction efforts for the East Coast U.S..
    * Lauri Martin, founder / president of Prism Advisors. In the fund of funds she managed the development of Swiss bank Union Bancaire Privee’s structural due diligence process as Deputy Head of Structural Risk.

    * Many others.

    Participants will receive a copy of our directory of more than 50 fund seeders or FOFs and their contact info as well as a new list of 200 family offices and other investors with their contact info. You can sign up here.

    On November 10th we will have a half day forum on Fund Exits - Mergers, Acquisitions, Restructuring and Secondaries. Mergers between funds and other financial institutions continues to grow. Multiple funds have been acquired or merged this year. Limited Partners looking to smooth their liquidity flows have sought to place stakes in the secondary markets rather than wait for long term private equity investments to mature or for gated hedge fund stakes to free up. Larger funds are on the hunt for acquisitions.

    Secondary stakes in funds have been widely available throughout 2009 as secondary oriented firms have amassed more than $30 billion in dry powder for fund-stakes at the right price. We have a series of leading funds and funds of funds who are active in secondary markets, fund restructuring and fund mergers and acquisitions. Likewise multiple subject matter experts in different parts of the fund exit ecosystem will present. This event is ideal for Limited Partners in Funds, Family Offices, Institutional Investors, General Partners and other institutions. Likewise, Hedge funds or Private Equity firms looking to restructure or joint venture / partner with another firm would benefit from attending. The event will be in midtown Manhattan. There will be a lunch reception preceding the event and an after work reception following. You can sign up here.
