Kroger (marionos where i am), target, Walgreens, cvs. Whole foods is the only place that doesn't seem to have increased security but I was told not to help the begger inside asking for a sandwich.
You are right...I just looked at the website. I'm wrong...Grocery delivery. I see the pickers in the stores and people picking up on the side of the store. I think it's funny I believe Target has the same thing at their stores. The only difference is that Target is putting Starbucks in many of their stores...Coffee and anything in the store (besides probably liquor and prescription). Even with those they may deliver...Don't know??
Brick & Mortar stores wouldn't survive for long. The rental & labor cost are far too high. Huge logistics Centre with AI control, & with efficient supply/delivery system is the way to go. In this area, China is world's best.
You are right to some extent. But couple of examples I see otherwise. Zudio stores have zero online presence. They are the fastest growing in fast fashion. Shein could not beat them. The other one is DMart. They do have online and home deliver. But they do not focus much on that segment. They are still growing, but at a much lower rate, these days. I am a shareholder in both of them and I closely watch them.
There are no consequences in the US for shoplifting. You can rob a bank and get $300 and get a 5 year jail sentence. Steal $900 of stuff from a department store and states like CA will literally just take the stuff back and tell you not to do it again - assuming you ever get caught as employees have been ordered not to "snitch on the marginalized". As a business it's difficult to operate when you allow people to steal from you.
Posters point out that the losses related to crimes are just passed along to consumers. Yes, true. It is also true, though, that in many instances- growing each day- stores just choose to close and not do business in those areas, thus capping their losses. But also leaving law abiding folks in those areas with "food deserts", no grocery stores, no drug stores, no Target, no quick picks, etc. etc. Much to my chagrin I noticed that part of the platform of that lefty loon who just won the primary in NYC (who says crime is "an artificial construct") is that he wants to establish city owned grocery stores in those areas. Ahh...ok..or not. Not exactly addressing the root causes.
