Wall Street Outsourcing To Exotic Locations Throughout the World

  1. That's exciting to watch business go where it's well treated.
Kinda gives me hope for the future.:)

  2. The article doesn't mention moving actual computers anywhere, just the various IT support functions.

Imagine off-shoring the actual hardware: good luck when one of these financial banana republics goes Maoist on ya. Instead of an Arab oil embargo, it'll be a server farm embargo. I'd say "LOL" except it's not funny.

  3. One factor I wonder about is the UK's stamp duty on shares for example. What locale could be setup to legally trade the LSE's listings through some computer bank and not get heckled by the British tax authorities?

I'd imagine if you set it up in another European jurisdiction, the Brits would still try to collect their tax, no?

    BATS Europe....

Has done a stellar job in enterring the US market....

Will be interesting to see how BATS enters the European Market.....

I am certain that BATS will locate their computerbanks wherever financial efficiency can be found.....this is their business model....efficiency versus its peers....just look at what they did in such a short period of time in the US.....there is nothing sacred about paying high fees....as the NYSE is finding out pronto.....
