Ouch... I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing bugs as well. Sometimes, my program does not execute trades for some reason. So I was at over 130K at yesterday's close, only to discover that my program didn't automatically sell at all this morning and I've fallen to 121K now. As for the prize money, you'll need to get back to at least $100,000.01 (that's a +40% gain), since they only award people who've had a positive return. Good luck!
qll, What language are you going to use? I know that for Java, there's a sample program application IB provides and is a really good resource.
i hope to use perl. i am still confused fix vs tws api etc... i am not sure if i should go with QuoteTracker or Direct IB. if you have been doing some work on IB and need a partner, let me know. we can build a team. i have things to offer.
To get started on using Perl, go here: http://chuckcaplan.com/twsapi/index.php/PerlAPIs?PHPSESSID=d273329230e30f8508201d2683cca1e5. Unfortunately, I'd be unable to work with you since I know basically nothing about Perl. If you have any questions about Java, I'd be glad to help.
Wow, finally the level of competition is picking up. I made 6K in a week, but still fell from 6th to 7th. This week it looks like there are 5 new names, with four of them ranking 2 through 5th place. If anyone's interested, I've found some patterns from comparing the last three weeks of rankings. Last weeks changes had the same number of new faces, and the amount needed in order to place in 10th place has increased by 5000 both weeks. Projecting this over the last three weeks of the competition, that means 130K could put you in the top 10 (and likely in the top 13). The problem with this projection of course, is that I don't know how many total players there are. Does anyone have rankings data (i.e. names and amount) from the first week of the competition? I'd like to have it to compare with the data I've compiled. Good luck everyone.
Here is what I have, which fits nicely with your $5,000 per week curve. Code: Olympiad Ranking as of January 22, 2007 Rank Name Equity 1 Andreas Eckner $141,058 2 Poshen Loh $124,338 3 Jason Taepke $118,514 4 Kunghua Chang $117,696 5 Ramu Nachiappan $114,214 6 Joseph Breaux $112,504 7 Gary Lei $108,600 8 Konstantinos Tsahas $105,932 9 Yanzhi Bai $104,038 10 Sirish Shetty $103,638 Revised Olympiad Ranking as of January 22, 2007 Rank Name Equity 1 Andreas Eckner $141,058 2 Poshen Loh $124,338 3 Jason Taepke $118,514 4 Raleigh Cross $118,276 5 Kunghua Chang $117,696 6 Ramu Nachiappan $114,214 7 Joseph Breaux $112,504 8 Stacy Ng $110,310 9 Gary Lei $108,600 10 Konstantinos Tsahas $105,932
Pretty tough competition. Not only did you have to make the money, but you had to figure out how to hold on to it as well. I'm sure all of those ranked (and plenty of others if they continue to apply themselves) will have outstanding futures in the financial industry. Good trading, JJ
