This thread is becomming very quiet from those actually in the competion.. did you all blow out? Follow, you still in this thing?
Yep, I'm still in this thing, and more than happy to post about it too. I'm glad you're still interested. Over the past few days I've tweaked my strategy with the aim of making it less risky. It doesn't make as many trades now, and each trade is smaller. I would like to rank high in the end, but I think I would rather win a small prize than blow out going for a larger one. When the new rankings were posted, I was somewhat surprised to find that only 3 participants who ranked in the first week ranked in the second. Who knows what will happen in the weeks to come. Current balance = $102,000.
yea it is amazing how many new names were ranked..... anything can still happen, keep your head up.. and trying to at least win "some" money instead of blowing out is probablly a smart move.
princeton, You say your busying winning this thing... does that mean your doing well now? going to be in the top 10 this week?
read the post please. princeton is #3. He has to make the top 6, seems doing well. His pace increased 10 times one week earlier...
princeton, I trade stock only. Is this olympiad account restricting the number of tickers for requesting tick data down to 40? I remember for IB accounts (real or paper) the max ticker number is 100...
princetontiger8 probably meant not that he himself was ranked third, but that a Princeton University student was ranked third. See here where IB lists a Matthew Hoffman from Princeton University as one of last years winners. As for my strategy, I don't have anything interesting to report. Current balance = $101,500.
Hello, I am in the competition and my current ranking is 6th. I came across this thread and thought it would be fun to make friends with the enemy. So if anyone has questions about myself or my strategy, I will try to reply with something misleading. Anyway, I was really surprised by the lack of competitors in this kind of contest. Since the second place guy has only made 30% and 10th place about 10% halfway through, I bet that we're competing against 30-40 very risk-averse people. What do you think? Also does anyone know whether the min. 25 trades counts a purchase and sale as two separate trades? Or do they mean opening 25 new positions? Good luck everyone!
