Voter fraud leads to woman being deported. But she's sorry.

  1. Either way, this is going to discourage a lot of illegal voters in 2018 and 2020.

And that, I believe, was the point.

  3. I'll tell ya what. I am not unsympathetic to her situation up to a point and that point is actually pretty close to siding with her but I can't get there completely.

She presented a Peruvian passport to get a drivers license. That right there IS A PRETTY GOOD FRIGGING SIGN THAT SHE IS NOT A U.S. CITIZEN. I do agree with her that to ask someone who is right off the boat or plane and may have marginal understanding of the language and government if they want to vote is a kind of entrapment. I am 100% with her on that and the legal requirement to ask her that was crooked and the state changed it.

So if she had been charged with illegally registering to vote, I would side with her. I think the state paved the way and led her to that or inevitably would end out doing that to some her were presented with that question. Where that falls short though is that SHE ACTUALLY VOTED TWICE. Sorry, that's a bridge too far for me. If you are permanent resident you have a responsibility to know what the opportunities and limits of that status are. I acknowledge that she admitted her wrongdoing but it was part of her application/review for U.S. citizenship where she was required to answer under oath and penalty of perjury and risk that feds might have a database or something to expose the truth- so I don't know how willing it was.

As I said, the states are definitely complicit in a lot of the unlawful signing up for stuff by non-citizens. Voter registration being the least of the freebies they are trying to unload on non-residents- many who are gaming the system- but also many who are just asking the person at the gubbermint office what they can do- and local gubbermint itself is not in compliance with federal law in many instances.

Also, note for the record, even though it is AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, her deportation proceeding started under OBAMA even though it did not reach court until Trump was President. Sorry if that truth does not work for some here.

  4. This is what's all important, the distinction between legal resident and citizen. The left wants them to be one and the same. Keeping the SC in tact was, and is all that stands between re-defining what citizenship is. A leftist court would undoubtedly eliminate the term citizenship altogether and replace it with legal resident. You're here, you're good to go for any and all benefits of any other resident. A window to apply for residency would be in place giving anyone who is simply standing on U.S. soil the right to apply. Citizenship will not be required. The word will lose all legal meaning. The left had this on their plate with a Clinton presidency and saw it vanish with a Trump victory. It is one, perhaps the biggest thing driving their hate these days. Huge loss for them. So close, so very, very close. Denied again.

  5. These heart-tugging cases are always trotted out, but just like firing missiles at Syria because some sad pictures made Ivanka cry, that is not the way to make policy. Kicking out non-citizens who vote illegally is actually a very smart policy. If they have so little regard for us as to vote illegally, it is vital to weed them out before they can become citizens. Maybe this lady was confused. There were plenty of people she could have asked for assistance. For every case like hers however, there are probably hundreds of organized illegal voting rings. They should be afraid of the consequences.

Blatant case of scapegoating to point the finger and say "...see, illegal voters!! And we're doing something about it!"

  7. You think that is what the Obama administration was doing when they initiated her deportment?
I guess that's a side of Barry that we have not seen.

I'm not sure I understand. What is scapegoating? The fact that the news picked up on this isn't because anyone is "doing something about illegal voters". The news picked up on it to call for bleeding hearts of the world to unite over the cause.
