Why would anyone care where the car is built, as long as the quality stays the same? If they want to subsidize production to cut the competition, so be it, I'll take it. Nationalism smells of protectionism, and, Milton Friedman can tell you, that is not what capitalism is all about.
i heard from a friend that after IBM sold their computer business the new brand Lenovo is total crap. The quality did not stay the same. He used thinkpads for years and was very happy with them. 1-2 years ago got Lenovo and is still cursing it.
"Ford on Sunday struck an agreement to sell Volvo Car Corp. to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group of China for $1.8 billion in a virtual all-cash deal. Ford had signaled months ago it wanted to sell Volvo. The deal should close in the third quarter. " Volvo has been dead long ago before it was sold to Ford. It is just a hot potato burning big holes for their owners. BTW, are you enjoying your "Made in China" IPhone, IPod, IPad, and all the other Apple stuffs?
actually there is 2 Volvo, the Volvo purchased by China and the Volvo in Europe are separate entities
did you know, both GM and Ford has been putting Chinese engine/drivetrain in some of their vehicles for years !!!
not intially, but give it 5-10 years. remember when hyundai first came out? now they are decent/good cars.
