Volatility Trading

Discussion in 'Trading' started by tradingjournals, Sep 22, 2011.

  1. XIV is now trading at around 6.02. I interested in the long side. I have two questions:

    1) what the best ways to trade volility, and

    2) what do you think are the down side and upside potentials of XIV from the current price?

  2. Isn't volty the name of the name of the game in trading? If so, then how come no answers so far?

Until then why ask and why should anyone answer?

He's still in high school. Go easy on him. It's a homework night for him. :)

  5. To keep a score, Mav is bearish on XIV. XIV closed at 5.95 today.

TJ, sometimes I get a good chuckle out of you. You're a funny guy. Don't lose that sense of humor. :D

  7. XIV at 6.44 (up from 5.95 on Friday close). XIV bulls have put (now scented?) candles up the azzes of the XIV bears.

  8. I doubt we see a top in XIV until a capitulation drop in the markets. Possible a move below 1100 on the SPX. Volatility will be a fantastic short at some point in the 4th quarter. Keeping my powder dry until we see that capitulation drop. Then, short VIX is a great play
