Volatility Scanners = $$

  1. I've come to the realization that volatility = opportunity to make excellent yields... Currrently the VIX is slightly above 24.

Does anyone know of a Volatility Scanner/screener for futures/commodities? There are plenty volatility scanners for stocks; however, I've yet to find any for futures/commodities.

    thanks,

  2. On the flip side, if you don't fully know what you are doing, it's the quickest way to drain your account.

Volitility is a double edge sword.

  3. I have a specific strategy that is ideal for volatile conditions. It doesn't matter is the instrument is moving up or down, as long as it is moving....

  5. That's fine for an option play near earnings as the strke price moves closer to ITM; however, my query is in regards to the expansion of ATR cycle beyond such restrictions.

    thanks,

  6. Just program yourself an indicator.
I have something like that for the Forex.

a simple indicator like [change in price / unit time] should do. it only shows volatility in the past of course and doesn't say anything about the future.

There are few CBOE volatility indexes: ovx, gvz and evz.
