Vix Index Can You Trade It?

I know what the vix does but how exactly does it trade. Where can i see quotes on vix or vix futures. Since im a day trader (primaily scalper) and relativly consistent, but my income is some what corelated to the vix I was thinking of something like selling calls against the vix. Thinking it will provide extra income on low volatility months and on high volatility months id more than make it back. So how would i go about investing in vix

 

It doesn't track daily but you can trade the 1-2 month vxx etn. There is also a mid term I think.

I would be buyng VXX with everything I have if the VIX fell between 12-14.

 

There are vix futures and options on the CBOE. Not very liquid though.
