Data I have going back to 1990 - VXO modified.

VXO itself is an entirely different methodology and data set.

 

October 1987 would definitely be higher than 100, maybe even 150

 

It sounds like the temperature in Iran on its highest day in history.

 

There is an old VXO dataset going back to 1986. On 10/19/1987 is closed at 150 and some pennies.
