The diet you mention is 90% better than most Americans but body fat percentage has nothing to do with health. Looking fit and being fit have little to do with each other, just look at bodybuilders & fitness models. I can speak from experience on that topic, I looked in amazing health & shape but was taking 2-4 xenadrine a day (before ephedra free) and was actually seriously lacking in vital fatty acids. Some of the healthiest ppl have bellies. Your body is meant to store fat, just depends on the genes how much it feels comfortable with.
http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/gastro.html Gastrointestinal Quackery: Colonics, Laxatives, and More Stephen Barrett, M.D. The importance of "regularity" to overall health has been greatly overestimated for thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians associated feces with decay and used enemas and laxatives liberally. In more recent times, this concern has been embodied in the concept of "autointoxication" and has been promoted by warnings against "irregularity." [1] The theory of "autointoxication" states that stagnation of the large intestine (colon) causes toxins to form that are absorbed and poison the body. Some proponents depict the large intestine as a "sewage system" that becomes a "cesspool" if neglected. Other proponents state that constipation causes hardened feces to accumulate for months (or even years) on the walls of the large intestine and block it from absorbing or eliminating properly. This, they say, causes food to remain undigested and wastes from the blood to be reabsorbed by the body [2]. Around the turn of the twentieth century many physicians accepted the concept of autointoxication, but it was abandoned after scientific observations proved it wrong. In 1919 and 1922, it was clearly demonstrated that symptoms of headache, fatigue, and loss of appetite that accompanied fecal impaction were caused by mechanical distension of the colon rather than by production or absorption of toxins [3,4]. Moreover, direct observation of the colon during surgical procedures or autopsies found no evidence that hardened feces accumulate on the intestinal walls. Today we know that most of the digestive process takes place in the small intestine, from which nutrients are absorbed into the body. The remaining mixture of food and undigested particles then enters the large intestine, which can be compared to a 40-inch-long hollow tube. Its principal functions are to transport food wastes from the small intestine to the rectum for elimination and to absorb minerals and water. Careful observations have shown that the bowel habits of healthy individuals can vary greatly. Although most people have a movement daily, some have several movements each day, while others can go several days or even longer with no adverse effects. The popular diet book Fit for Life (1986) is based on the notion that when certain foods are eaten together, they "rot," poison the system, and make the person fat. To avoid this, the authors recommend that fats, carbohydrates and protein foods be eaten at separate meals, emphasizing fruits and vegetables because foods high in water content can "wash the toxic waste from the inside of the body" instead of "clogging" the body. These ideas are utter nonsense [5]. Some chiropractors, naturopaths, and assorted food faddists claim that "death begins in the colon" and that "90 percent of all diseases are caused by improperly working bowels." The practices they recommend include fasting, periodic "cleansing" of the intestines, and colonic irrigation. Fasting is said to "purify" the body. "Cleansing" can be accomplished with a variety of "natural" laxative products. Colonic irrigation is performed by passing a rubber tube through the rectum. Some propoponents have advocated that the tube be inserted as much as 30 inches. Warm water -- often 20 gallons or more -- is pumped in and out through the tube, a few pints at a time, to wash out the contents of the large intestine. (An ordinary enema uses about a quart of fluid.) Some practitioners add herbs, coffee, enzymes, wheat or grass extract, or other substances to the enema solution. The Total Health Connection and Canadian Natural Health and Healing Center Web sites provide more details of proponents' claims. The latter states that "there is only one cause of disease -- toxemia" and offers "the most comprehensive in-depth colon therapy on the continent." The course costs $985 for 5 days of in-clinic training or $295 by correspondence. Some "alternative" practitioners make bogus diagnoses of "parasites," for which they recommend "intestinal cleansers," plant enzymes, homeopathic remedies. Health-food stores sell products of this type with claims that they can "rejuvenate" the body and kill the alleged invaders.

I pasteurize all my foods by COOKING them. It's amazing what heating food in the microwave can do! I don't eat any raw salads, especially when I go to a restaurant. I try to kill all the microbes before I eat my food. Most nutrients are heat labile, but it's worth the trade off to always, always pasteurize. This is easier on my immune system. The less you tax your immune system, the healthier you will be long-term. Health problems directly related to the innate immunological response of humans include allergies, cancer, diabetes, anything inflammatory related--arthritis, heart-disease, Alzheimerâs, circulatory diseases, etc. etc. Long story short, I don't want any extra inflammatory cytokines and chemokines circulating in my blood stream. you are right. when i look around here in America, most of the average adult could stand to lose some weight... but i think everyone knows that already. that's why jared from subway is a million-aire. (sux that guy is rich and i'm still poor) it is not, however, general public health knowledge that taking it easy on your immune system is just if not more important than maintaining a healthy weight. that said, i don't really care how all you other traders eat. go to mcdonald's every day and have their salads for all i care.
I thought I once read that microwaving food can mutate the proteins in the food. Turn you into Frankenstein or something?... I think I have also read the same thing about freezing meat. It does something nasty to the proteins... And cooking meat can cause all kinds of carcinogens... I guess we have to eat it raw. Just a minute, I think I saw a big cat walk across the front yard and I am hungry...
Thats quite possible, but I started feeling better with more energy after I started taking his stuff. I adjusted my lifestyle eating habits a little later. As i was feeling better I started doing more. I also was not on my deathbed. I was just eating poorly, having more than half my meals at restaurants or drive-trhu windows. I wasn't getting any exercise and when I would get home I would be tired and then just sit around watching tv or something. As I started feeling more energy I started doing more stuff. Maybe his stuff just got me moving in the right direction. Doesn't really matter, the important thing is I am much better off now than I was then. Sometimes you just need a jumpstart.
I wasn't saying it was anything new or revolutionary. Someone else brought up a good point in this thread about natural foods being better than supplements because there are hundreds of other ingredients, enzymes, etc in them that Drs do not know about thier benefits yet.
try either boiling or poaching your meats. that is the healthiest option. It is charred meats that are chocked full of carcinogens. FEAR NOT. the proteins in your chicken or beef will not be reversetranscribed no matter what method of cooking you employ. microwaving meats will not mutate the protein... it will however denature many of the proteins. notice the layer of gelatin?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote from mizer: Nobody is saying not to eat healthy whole foods that is RULE NUMBER 1, but you cannot consume enough foods to satisfy various vitamin deficiencies thus one must "supplement" with a pill NOT REPLACE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is totally true. People assume that a "healthy" diet will nourish the body. Do yourself a favour and read how few nutrients there are in standard vegetables. One frightening book to read is "Not on the Label: What Really Goes into the Food on Your Plate " Quote "That ready-to-eat bagged salad has been washed in a solution of chlorine twenty times stronger than that of a swimming pool; that the processing destroys the vitamin content; that in one government study 13.5% of bagged salads were found to contain E coli bacteria? " Real organic and not corporate organic is the only way to go and even then IMHO you need a good supplement. I searched long and hard and found this company. Their supplements have worked well for my family and I. They also appear to be very ethical in an industry of crooks and con men www.xtend-life.com All of their claims are backed up by scientific papers Their Neo Natural range has been great for me
WOW!!! So you are saying that you cannot get the nutrients you need UNLESS you take supplements??? How did the human race survive for tens of thousands of years before supplements were available?
