Speaking as a complete newbie to VB, 3 weeks ago I bought VB.net basic and found that the IB sample program was written for VB6 and when I tried to "upgrade" it, the Microsoft utility would crash because one of the components was not licensed for the basic version of VB6. Apparently you need the pro version which I'm sure is quite expensive. Luckily, I found some code for IB's API on Yahoo and used that as an example to get me started. Had a basic order management program written in a couple days based on that code and spending a few hours with the tutorial booklet MS included with the software. My programming skills are from the 80's, so that should say it's easy to get started. Shreddog
Thanks for all the replys guys. I think I'm going to start with VB.NET. Their doesn't seem much point in learning VB6, then having to learn something else later if I want switch. Plus for very basic applications it doesn't seen like their is a huge difference in complexity. Thanks to all, Runningbear
