NYC has one of the highest Flu rates in the US because of its population density. Flu averages 2000 deaths over 12 months in NYC. Covid is already at 11,267 after just 3 months. Thats almost Flu x6 already Without lockdowns we were looking at 30,000 deaths in New York. Or Flu x 15. Even with lock downs we are going see 15,000 deaths by the end of this year in NYC. And possibly more if a bad second wave hits in the fall.
The entire world except Sweden which is still being screwed by everyone else. Could be worse could live in Australia total ! lockdown for only 70 deaths that's proper over reacting.
ARSEEEEE the 1 hope of normality just got cancelled, which makes no sense, phase 3, 98% effective and cancelled the test with 3days to go. Now, they're poised to close out their first week in negative territory since early April after drug maker Gilead said it terminated a trial of Remdesivir early, and thus had no conclusive findings about its effectiveness in treating Covid-19. Shares in the company closed down 4.3% on Wall Streeton Thursday. Ahhh previous release was a hoax as some said, FFS! https://www.statnews.com/2020/04/23...ent-show-no-benefit-for-coronavirus-patients/
No San Miguel's?! That sucks. It really is a good beer too. I always laughed at their label, it used to say "Perhaps the world's finest beer". Perhaps.
It's an okay beer, there are better alternatives. I'm more of a Tiger Black or Foster man myself nowadays. There is significant blowback from alcohol producers, as I understand the ban is meant for natural disasters and was invoked by this Corona thing as a bundle. It's not logical but I suspect it's kept alive because the ones who are dependent on the state for financial help would spend everything on booze and then complain they're hungry. Then again, revenue from alcohol sales would prop up the economy, excise taxes and all...
Well, liquor. I live in PA, where the state controls hard liquor sales and they closed their stores. You still can buy beer and some wine though. But people like to drink in uncertain times, thus thousands from East PA poured (pardon my pun) over to NJ liquor stores thus probably spreading the virus and/or getting infected. Some stores close to the border had to close down for a few days. The liquor board said they will sell online and they probably do like 5 orders per day for the whole state. In short, it doesn't work. Now from Monday, we can finally order online and pick it up by the store's door. Or so they say. The government should be more careful about messing with alcohol. The last time we had a revolution it was called Whisky Rebellion and not for nothing!!!
This is a recipe for family disaster too. Nothing good ever comes from people cooped up drinking. This will be another issue soon I suspect.
Already happening in uk people murdering there family then killing themselves. Hell my chances of going on a killing rMpage increase daily, too many stupid people making decisions based on irrational fear. No guns in Uk, US blood bath purge style soon!
Depends on the culture. We already know drunken behavior is culture dependent - if you're expecte to get violent when drinking, you will; if you're expected to sing and dance, you'll do that. In most cultures drinking together is perfectly fine.
