without getting into a stat 101 debate, even if you're correct we've passed countless laws since then that simply aren't being enforced. id say thats a political problem more than a gun problem.
Actually, I'm not sure if I'm correct because I can't remember the crime website that posted the statistics. Yet, I was shocked by the numbers in comparison. Personally, I think it's both a political and gun problem because both are deeply or historically connected. Others may argue it's also a policing problem too. Also, I find it ironic that the birthplace of all that gang violence... Today sits the New York City Supreme Court (Paradise Square). wrbtrader
The average city in 1850 didn't have 500 ............. people. Ok that's a slight exaggeration. NYC murder rate 1850 5 per 100,000 2017 3 per 100,000 (latest I could find here) https://www.cato.org/blog/immigration-homicide-rates-new-york-city-1850-2017
per 100k st louis - 65 baltimore - 58 birmingham - 51 dertroit - 42 dayton - 35 kansas city - 30 memphis - 30 cleveland - 25 miami - 24 i can keep going.. but thanks for the 1850 comparison.
Not a gun problem, no, no, no no. Uhhh yes, yes, yes it is. Miami-Dade Murder Rate Dropped in 2021 by Nearly 15% https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/miami-dade-murder-rate-dropped-in-2021-by-nearly-15/2659716/ Miami-Dade County's murder rate dropped in 2021, going against trends in other major cities across the country where murders rose to levels not seen in decades. Figures released by the medical examiner's office this week showed Miami-Dade had 249 murders in 2021, a decrease of 41 from 2020, or about a 15% drop. In comparison, Chicago had just under 800 murders in 2021, the most in the Windy City since 1996. "To put it in comparison, Philadelphia, Chicago, 500, 800 homicides in 2021 alone. So Miami-Dade really is bucking the national trend," said Alex Piquero, a professor of criminology at the University of Miami. Piquero said the Miami-Dade Police Department's "Operation Summer Heat" contributed to the decline. The operation, which began in June and involved dozens of law enforcement agencies, was designed to take guns off the streets and targeted violent people and violent areas of the county. Officials said the operation led to more than 3,300 felony arrests and over 1,200 guns recovered.
You just proved it's a law enforcement problem. Enforce the law, lock up the criminals and like magic everything gets better Now tell that to the rest of the country. ill concede there are far too many stupid people that own guns. there is no disputing that.
Enforcement but even more so, far too many guns. We have no lock'em problem. If anything too many are locked up. For-profit prison corps luv it. We lead the friggen world.
Whats bothersome is the fact that the majority of the violence is committed by blacks. Why wont black leaders do something about the criminal mind and criminal intent? Taking away guns won’t take away the violent intentions, they will use other weapons. The majority of gun violence takes place in the inner cities where violent kids are unsupervised . No family structure ! Liberals make excuses because they are lazy and won’t do the work to make lives better for inner city kids. Typical lazy liberals- excuses not solutions. Having marches, vigils, and protests do nothing. These kids need a road map for success.
A yuuuge majority of crime is related to poverty. A yuuuge majority of people living in poverty are blacks. Survival dog eat dog mentality drives crime. Nothing to do with criminal mind/intent lol.
