Bullshit. I know of a few big shots who did post here anonymously. Ironically, you were associated with one of them and Maverick74 went on one of his pompous rants against the guy.
You are not talking about Vic are you? He had an alias but he revealed his identity countless number of times. Hell he talked about his margin calls in 1987 at length in the ES options pit. If that's the guy you are referring to, I don't remember any "pompous" rants about the guy. He was gracious enough to invite me to his home.
The other guy that posted here related to Surf was Neal Berger. He also revealed his identity. I never ranted against him either. Maybe you are thinking of Atticus. I never met Neal.
Sure they post anonymously, like everyone else. But clearly, they don't treasure their anonymity otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do business with aliases. No clue what you mean, otherwise.
No relation here to Atticus. Never met the guy, but he did recommend a good burger place in Tahoe/Reno last time I was there. surf
Nope, another guy. And FWIW, the notion that this Marketsurfer character is "getting behind the idea" is ridiculous. We can ask TGregg and Tsing Tao how many of his aliases were banned when his main alias was behind multiple times. It's completely hypocritical.
Ok, so let me take this a step further. Did he announce his name to the entire board OR via private messages with contact details. Same thing to Marketsurfer as I see he said basically the same thing below. It's one thing to announce to the entire world who you are and have every post you've ever made on Elite Trader show up in a Google search for posterity. BUT, it's an entirely different ball of wax if we're talking about a handful of fellow professionals knowing who you are.
I ranted against Neal? I think you are confusing me with Atticus. I don't think I have ever even engaged Neal on ET. I always knew who he was. He rarely posted here. I don't think anyone has started trouble with Neal. He only posted a few times to shoot the shit about some strategy. Not a controversial guy.
Well, my memory is weak on this as it was a long time ago. From what I remember, he posted about some generic stuff. Someone recognized his writing and called him out (typical ET) and then a long conversation started about how he blew out. He never said, "Hi, my name is Vic". But he spoke in the first person about the events around his blowup. Not to mention he talked about his squash championships, his home in CT, his books, etc. Everyone "knew" who he was. He didn't have to announce it. He got some pretty harsh treatment. I stayed out of that whole debate. But he never made any effort to conceal who he was other then not registering with a handle that included his full name. But anyone who has been around the markets knew who he was. And if anyone didn't, I believe several posters posted full length articles detailing his blowups for all to read. So the whole place knew it was him.
