If you pass through mexico because you prefer the U.S. then legally that makes you an "economic migrant" rather than an asylum seeker. They all claim to be asylum seekers because asylum seekers are entitled to hearing before being deported or accepted but they are almost always let back into the community while awaiting the hearing, and then they no-show and split to work at their cousins landscaping business in Teaneck, New Jersey.
