I'm having a problem with my videocards set-up.

    Old config :

    AMD XP 2000+
    512 DDR mem.
    Matrox G550 Millenium dual head.
    2 monitors

I wanted to upgrade to 4 monitors so I bought a Matrox G200 MMS as well as 2 additional monitors.
Later I found out the G200 MMS is a Compaq OEM card but that it should work smootly with other systems.

I can get the monitors to work on the G200 card (using windows drivers or using matrox drivers) but my systems crashes every now and than and I get a message this is caused by the G200 card, I don't get crashes when using Matrox' drivers but my systems gets very slow.

    Any thoughts,

    I had a similar problem. Here'w what I recommend:

    1) Pop in WIN 2k disk, select "repair" DO NOT REPLACE FILES. JUST REPAIR

    2) Let WIN 2K do its things, then restart

    3) Go to www.matrox.com, find drivers, save to desktop, then reload / update drivers.

    4) Restart and you should be OK

    Let me know

  3. Same worked for me when I installed everything for the first time on a new machine.

Win2000 and Matrox drivers are all you need.

I work with Windows XP, does this work also ?
Do you recommend downloading the latest drivers or the Windows certified drivers ?

    So you just say :

Download the latest drivers and save on CD
    Empty my computer completely
    - uninstall the G200 card
    - uninstall the G550 card

    Restart the computer,
When asked for new hardware to install, install from CD
(This way only drivers installed will be the right ones)

    Everything should work, correct ??

    Thanks

  5. H2O,

Let us know how this turned out. On another thread a poster reported problems using IBM oem cards from ebay. Apparently there can be issues with the bios.
