My understanding is that he was/is involved with more than just one fund not just Matador and I bet he also had/has a personal account....

  2. Good observation. It's important to get sufficient irony in our diet.

LOL, I'm glad you guys are having a chuckle at my expense (beautiful picture Surf).

I'm not going to criticize the guy until I've walked a mile or two ...

Perhaps this performance is more acceptable (taken from the Casting Call for Firm Documentary thread)

  6. And how is a genius who lets his funds go under twice any better than a fool?

VN has a penchant for using the word "erudite" at every opportunity, as did marketsurfer until recently. I just happened to come across something that playwright Jean Baptiste Moliere wrote, and I welcome your comments:

"An erudite fool is a greater fool than an ignorant fool."

  7. thanks. as you know, crabel worked in VN's office and speaks highly of him. another example of the massive postive influence VN has on others.

    Honestly?

He had 12 years of truly outstanding performance in which he led the pack in terms of hedge fund performance.

I think he got overconfident, and this led to his fall (yes, there is irony in someone with my alias definding him :) ) ... and once he crossed that threshold, he couldn't go back to his previous iron man performance level.

That doesn't make him a fool, it makes him human.
