Very simple trend-following set-up

  1. What did/didn't the people you helped do that burned you? Overall I want to be sure to be doing the correct things when it comes to the karma side of things.

No burning. However, there are two characteristics that are extremely hard to teach/enforce, discipline and dedication, without those two the aspiring trader stands no chance.

Furthermore, they are very rare qualities, especially applied in synergy.

So I don't come across as all puff..., and no stay

    OP

    IMO.., mind you

Lowest risk..., I won't say easiest..., but definitely simplest and clearest way to identify a "with move" setup (I use "with move" because I do not think in terms of trend - on any TF..., time sample)

Is on a PB - BO..., where the BO is in the direction of the original move

Use any indicator you like as a filter..., personally I use volume

A TL / or TLs to quantify the move (trend if you prefer)

And a rectangle to identify / contextualize the PB range

    simple..., straightforward..., low risk

    Works day trading..., or swing

    schizo,

It's becoming more common now to see people say they don't like indicators, they don't use indicators, they are opposed to indicators but then they post their charts and it has several types of price moving averages because they are from the crowd that price moving averages are not indicators.

I gave up trying to figure out why they think price moving averages are not indicators.

  6. He said he was opposed to indicators that generate an additional chart. MAs are on price chart.

I think his approach has merit, but I would like to see what it looks like in practice and maybe see system stats if he has them.

  7. Redneck,

When time permits, if you are willing, can you please care to explain how volume should be used as a filter?

My charts are only populated by bars and lines, channels to be precise, but if I have no filter and I would rather not use a MA or oscillator.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hey IM (great music btw)

I am not willing to detail it out here - what I will say..., volume will confirm if a line is drawn correctly

No matter if said line drawn horizontally..., or diagonally

  9. Sounds like some good trend help;
200 dma day+ 50 week moving average, more closes above[long], the better And more closes below, short , the better.Except for a swing trader, record sell volume, like on weekly WTI crude oil, combines with 10% up spike.Polar bears taking out 80 + % of a move doesnt mean the downtrend is all over. It means risk reward has changed in a notable way ........................

  10. Let me see if I read correctly, you are combining 200 day DMA with 50 Week SMA?

    Thanks for clarification.
