My post was a response to vehn's "we're a secular nation" comment. According to most of those preambles we are NOT a secular nation. Or at least we weren't. I'm sure you and he both would like to think so now.
I'm just proud Lucrum actually posted something of substance... took the time to copy-paste every state's mention of God/creator in their constitutions. Usually he just attacks another poster and/or their opinion... exactly how I did in my previous post. Lucrum is making progress. He is right too... he posted in response to a "secular" comment and not towards Christianity. Looks like I was wrong too.
....lol, but Vehn is correct . If we weren't always a secular nation then we would have been a theocratic one. We were never a theocracy. That would be just nonsense and too ridiculous to argue. When some of those preambles were being written, soon after, Babtists were running to Government asking for the partition of State and religion. Christians were falling out with Christians because some sects of Christianity wanted theocratic rule over others. Those preambles are rightly over ruled by the Constitution. This nation may indeed (rather childishly) take a nod toward God, but God is not part of the constitution for government nor should it quite rightly ever be. For very good reasons. Unless some Christians want a government base like Iranâs that is.
A Christian nation? A Christian nation that: 1. Has a divorce rate of 50%... 2. Has 75% of married couples having affairs... 3. Has more people watching the Super Bowl than going to Church... 4. Invaded another country and overthrew their government based on lies... 5. Does not adequately care for the poor... 6. Beats plowshares into weapons... 7. Was founded denying rights to women and minority groups... 8. Is filled with people who lie, cheat, steal... 9. Is the most materialistic nation on earth... 10. Does not remember the Sabbath nor keep it Holy... 11. Routinely takes God's name in vain... 12. Allows abortion... 13. Allows states to legalize gay marriage... 14. Allows the state to execute people... A very incomplete list of a so called "Christian" nation...
I don't know, with all those references to God? It sure sounds like, at one time at least, the "Almighty God" was considered sacred by the (states) framers to me. secular sec⋅u⋅lar  âadjective 1. of or pertaining to worldly things or to things that are not regarded as religious, spiritual, or sacred; temporal: secular interests.
