2ripchic4-who is your broker? Is it a prop firm or broker like Lightspeed? I have many Sterling users and no problems like you describe. And, most of my Sterling Users are in Asia connecting on the other side of the Earth. Only Australia would be further away. Bob
Hi Bob, I also wanted to add BATS, JPCC, ITGI, and CCMX routes, and I tried to manually add them in Sterling Trader Pro, but unfortunately, I can't. I pinged them on it and, unfortunately, they can't be added. I previously mapped out my routes to ARCA and NSDQ. I wanted to be able to customize a Hotkeys to buy and sell 30% of buying power, but Sterling Trader Pro doesn't have that functionality. I created several new Hotkeys, to buy 25%, 40%, and 50%, of buying power, as MKT and limit (bids & asks). Tested them in my DEMO account, and I get error messages "Invalid Price for % of BP left." Not sure why? I sent their tech support team an email, waiting for a response. Previously they mentioned that the % of BP with Hotkeys would use market orders. I always thought I could use limit orders for Hotkeys (buying and selling different %'s of BP). I confused with the difference between an S-STP and an S-STP LMT. I know they're both stops orders, and I thought the S-STP, once triggered & filled, after hitting its price, converts into a market order? In the Sterling Trader Pro platform in my Level II Montage, I had STP, S-STP, and S-STP LMT. I pinged them, and they said STP and STP LMT are older stops, so I removed them from my Global Level II settings and now just have Limit, MKT, S-STP, and S-STP LMT. Best, 2ripchic4
Hi, I have a REALtek PCIe GBE Family NIC. If I make these changes would I have any issues? Wasn't sure if I needed a more advanced NIC. Best, 2ripchic4
Only your broker can add routes. None of the software we or STT offer, as far as I know, has the ability to enter orders based on the dollar about of the stock you want to buy/sell. In turn, they can't use your BP as a reference. Sterling, as far as I know, requires an order in shares to open, but can liquidate positions based on the percentage of your position. E.G. close 25%, 50%, 100%. Not based on $$s. When triggered, a Sell Stop will create a market order. When triggered, a sell stop limit will create a limit order. The market order will get a fast execution but give no protection as to price. The Limit order will not get executed in the stock is trading lower than your limit, but gives you control. I'm not a fan of Stop orders. I would always use a STOP limit and make the limit one I can live with. You should be asking your broker these questions, not STT.
Thanks very much. I pinged my broker, but I haven't heard back yet. I always use limit orders. I was thinking about using a Stop Limit at some point. I heard with DAS Trader Pro you can customize your Hotkey to any % of BP. I see, ok, I will try to BTC and sell using my BP% Hotkey the next time I am into Sterling Trader Pro. What do you think about the login error with Sterling Trader Pro and the DAS Trader Pro DEMO account being displayed next to the Equity field in Sterling Trader Pro? I am not sure if it's a broker issue or an issue with Sterling Trader Pro. When I could log in to Sterling I was able to see my Sterling demo account next to the Equity field, and I had to click my mouse, hit the drop-down, and select it when I first customized it. Once I am in, I would like to keep my Layout, but I am not sure that's possible, and I might have to start from scratch. Hopefully, when I can log in, I can install the newer version with no issues. I heard STT improved system performance with the new release.
Do you think it's normal, after doing a fresh install of Sterling Trader Pro, to have it automatically load my saved Layout? I did point my saved Layout to Load the Layout previously in Sterling Trader Pro.
