Yeah, it's too bad the Leviathan US bureaucracy isn't even close to being capitalist anymore, despite what they constantly claim...

What's interesting is that this week, Dick Cheney is visiting the Premier of Alberta and taking a tour of the Albertan oil sands. Get ready to short Canada -- the last time Cheney toured another countries' oil fields, he waited a month or two and then had Bush send in the military to capture it, occupy the country, and overthrow their leader.

Also, the timing on any new oil deals with Canada is completely ironic, since the big Canadian news last week was that the States clearly and blatantly broke the Free Trade Agreement with Canada by putting tariffs on Canadian softwood lumber for the last 3 (I believe) years (the States collected billions in illegal tariffs in that time). The Canadians ran it through every layer of appeals procedure, including the American-controlled extraordinary challenge committee, and every level said the same thing, that the States was breaking their own rules and acting like "a schoolyard bully" and had to stop and repay the tariff money. The States refused flat-out last week. Now, Canada is fairly pissed off, and some politicians are mumbling about retaliatory tariffs, since NAFTA and the original FTA are obviously worthless -- the States only abides by their own rules when it benefits them at the expense of Canada. All of this BS hurts the consumers in both countries, but the government dickheads in both countries (but especially the States in this case) don't give a damn.
