Are the issues in Venezuela a non starter?? I thought this would be effecting markets by now in some way. Not taking sides on Trump...But he is doing some saber rattling.

    Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index
    2,610.14CNY
    +8.42+0.32%

That is half way through their session. Thoughts??

I doubt Venezuela event has major impact on world markets other than
    venezuelan bolĂvar.
currently major events are trade war, and Fed interest rate things.

also lately oil and index futures have quite a good correlation.

Venezuela sells very little oil now than before! They also, have the worst kind of oil, the thick, slurry one that is very tough to refine. We have refineries in Texas I believe that is able to refine that kind of oil. That said, shale oil has more effect on the oil markets for instance. What liberal media also, does not mention is Hugo Chavez when he was still alive grabbed all the oil fields developed by US companies like Exxon and did not even pay them their cost to develop those oil fields. Result is US oil companies abandoned Venezuela and even Venezuelan oil professionals bailed after being terrorized by thugs of Hugo Chavez and now Nicolas Maduro. These guys were starving their own people. Ah, the success of socialism! Everyone likes it right?
Except, socialist leaders like Chavez and Maduro are filthy rich, eat well, enjoy life being kings while, everyone wallows in their misery! The same goes for Raul and Fidel Castro of Cuba.
