Venezuela flying 10 tons of goods to hurricane damages areas

  1. This reminds me of the guy who was saying the Nazi's were clearly "lefties" because "National Socialist German Workers' Party" yep, they looked a bit socialistic to hook the ordinary people but they were a fascist wolf in sheep's clothing.

Hugo Chavez was no Hitler and he was not a socialist either. He was the reincarnation of Juan Peron, the Argentinean populist of over half a century ago.

Peron also denounced the United States and via his wife, Evita (don't cry for me et all), distributed state revenue to the poor of Argentina using language similar to Chavez.

Populist. Even straight out communists realised that what Chavez was doing was never going to fly for long.

there may be a long line of lefties leaning over backwards to distance themselves from it but in the US some progressives/ socialists in the US don't see it that way,

So an hour ago you made the unsubstantiated (and false) statement that "He sends a few bottles of water to the islands and the lefty media goes gaga" Now you say the EXACT OPPOSITE that the "lefties" don't support him now...but go on the make the equally unsubstantiated caricature of the left statement that the "the lefty chavez "revolution" that was supported- ad nauseum- by the lefties."

Listen, I was once like you. I grew up conservative, listened to Rush, and thought all the time about what complete imbeciles those "lefties" were. Then I actually met some and listed to them. Come to find out, much of what I was sure they believed was just a caricature of what they actually believed. I also realized upon further thought and research that much of what I believed to be true but hadn't taken the time to investigate or think through actually wasn't true. I still hold that some ideas from the right have merit, but I've realized that much of what the left actually thinks, as opposed to what Rush and Fox tell you they think, has significant merit as well.

I'm sure you know absolutely nothing about the history of the coups, Pérez Jiménez, the corruption Carlos Andrés Pérez or anything else about the history of Venezuela that led to Chavez. You also can't name any "lefties" who supported Chaves "- ad nauseum-" (but you're sure going to google and find one right now, aren't you). You're regurgitating something you heard but haven't taken the time to really understand. In the process you're reinforcing that you haven't actually taken the time to understand what those who disagree with you politically think because it's easier for you to just paint them all as idiots and fools. If only they could have the common sense you do, right?

We'd all be better off if people like you (and the equally wrong people on the left) took the time to understand what the other side actually believed and giving it some thought. It requires some maturity to do that, and you might have to actually start thinking of people you disagree with as fellow intelligent humans rather than "lefties", but you too will benefit from the attitude adjustment.

  5. Heh. Let me give you a clue Cowboy- your greater knowledge of my life than I have notwithstanding- I can assure that I have far more experience with being a liberal than you do. So with that being the case, all of your comments can still be useful and relevant somewhere, particularly in your morning dialogue with the voices in your Rice Krispies.

  6. The origin of Right and Left was not based on anything but simply a coincidence.

  9. Probably a lot of time/energy/money would have been spent and wasted due to left and right seating in the chamber.

Perhaps a country can be greatly improved when politicians of both left and right can seat together in the middle anytime individuals like/prefer for any different days. Rather than separate them physically into two wings.

With portable computers assigned to individual politicians, counting votes nowadays would never be a problem anymore.

There should be Many More seats than the total number of politicians therefore a politician can choose a preferred seat to seat next with perhaps another politician of the opposite side.

Interactions and communications between/among politicians of various parties should be encouraged.

A politician, any politician, after election when being paid by the people's money should be working for the country, rather than for her/his own party (alone)! (Not being paid by the party's money!)

Leaving only some extreme politicians to seat near the edge, away from the middle seats.

A country this way might greatly improve her efficiency. lol

  10. I don't think the delegates from New Jersey should be allowed to sit next to the reps from other states.
