As of late I've been taking a lot of 1-3 pt moves occassionally 5-6, and maybe a 10 pt move once a week.. 6 months ago I was taking alot of 3-5 pt moves, occassionally 8-10, and maybe once a week 15-20pt
I should probably keep my mouth shut as I'm trading much differnt than you guys so have a different perspective, sill find it interesting to observe different styles. not a scalper so I get bored waiting for a setup that last retracement finally gave me a decent long entry at 43.. took forever tho.
Hi Mark! Dax swings more intraday than Dow? Would be nice with a stock or index that swings up and down and not to much (hmm..don´t know the English word for it) "Stand still in about the same place". High volatility + high trending i guess it could be defined as. Dow is better than s&p500 for this. You think Dax is even better? Have you tried Nikkei or Hongkong?
The DAX is better then the DOW in my opinion for scalping becuase of the lower exchange fees. In my opinion. I think the DOW is the best scalping market in the US at the moment(for stock indexes), but its low tick value is what I don't like.
Haven't tried NIKKI or Hong Kong. I'm looking into it though, finding out about connectivity right now. Talking to TT to see if they can provide access to it via their X-Trader software.
buying/selling retracements into the trend has been my strategy for a while. worked ok this again this morning for a couple 10+ point moves each. 4:55am 3843 long then 3851 long at 5:22am east coast time.
just entered another at 55.5. pretty simple, look for a retracement on decreasing volume and then take a position into the trend. look to take a partial fairly quickly to remove risk then hope the remainder will move for a more substancial move. For example on this last one I took +3 on 1/2, stop at BE at 55.5 on the rest.
