ACE (CBOT) used the software provided by Eurex. They will discontinue to do so and have started to switch over to using Euronext Liffe software: YM trades already on the new platform, the bonds will follow in January.

As to the version Eurex will roll out in February (if they start at this date): I do not know.

  2. The books I've read are on cognitive science, not trading psychology.

What I'm into is how we make decisions, and how we think. And why when making decisions with an uncertain outcome, our decision making process is often flawed. The books I read deal with these issues.

The ones I liked best are "Thinking and Deciding", "Multiple Intelligences" and "The User Illusion". I must warn you though this is some pretty dry stuff, but it is informative.

The psychological aspects of trading(or life for that matter) that I'm interested in are what separates winners from losers. I've read every interview of successful traders that I could find, and read many biographies of successful people( Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan, John D. Rockefeller, Michael Bloomberg, Richard Branson....).

I've also been privileged to be able to watch and pick the brains of many successful traders. This has been invaluable.

i am very much into NLP & mind modelling techniques at the moment, because I think the "real" edge is found here, if you finally know yourself much better (this is an ongoing process).

Your hints on the cognitive science books is much appreciated, thank you!

    all the best,

absolutely agreed, I have totally changed my approaches to trading since this truth was dawning me. After reading many biographies & interviews I noticed they all have a different, small technical edge, but they have it. And in this edge the get finally specialists & trade more & more size & scaling strategies.

When first approaching markets, I did not realize that I would abuse all the technical stuff for masking my "mental flaws".
Better get to the core of it...

    best to you,
    cosmic

  7. 159 x 159 = 3012.5 euro (gross) 2726.3 euro (net)
    $3713.5 U.S. (gross) $3375 U.S. (net)

I was reviewing my trades from the last couple weeks and noticed that I have been giving alot of profits back during the 4:00 am -7:00 am (central time). So today I found myself up a decent amount after the first 2 hours of trading and called it quits until the U.S. I traded for another two hours from 8:30-10:30 am. The bulk of my gains came in the first two hours of trading. I only made about 30 ticks after the U.S. opened.

I may keep this up (trading just the first two hours after the open and the first two hours after the US open) until the new year(hopefully it will bring with it a pick up in the action), since the average range in the DAX has been contacting for the last couple weeks, most of the movement has come in the first two hours with not much action until the U.S. opens.

I agree, If I were to trade the DAX I would go for the volatile times(first 2 hrs) and the trade the US RTH during its time in the appropriate instruments.

CHICAGO (Reuters) - German-Swiss Eurex will start a global clearing link with Chicago-based Clearing Corp. in March, part of its low-fee plan to take the U.S. financial futures industry by storm, officials with the firms said on Tuesday.
The link, allowing Eurex customers in the United States to clear futures and options trades through Frankfurt-based Eurex Clearing AG, and vice versa, will start on March 28, two months after the planned debut of the Eurex US exchange.
