I trade the break out of the first 5 min. range, 15 min range, and 30 min range. These times are approximations. If its 12 min into the the day and we are making new highs or lows I go with it I don't necessarily wait for 15 one min bars to form. If it is a wild open I might bid and offer the market with a couple pt spread.
OK, a bit more depth than what I see on IB but not so much that I need to miss sleep over it. Appreciate it. Robert
One more question to bother you with Mark , On the right side is the ask price in red (going up about 6 prices) and on the left are the bids in blue (on your screen 4 contracts have just being sold) What are the blurry munbers in grey in the center column?
velocity trader, It appears you trade the March contract, however the rollover seems to complete later than NQ and ES. This morning in the ESTX I saw 2 point spreads in the MAR 04. Definitely less prints in the MAR 04 as the charts indicate ...
I'm sorry I don't know what you are talking about. I'm trading the DEC. contract. It doesn't roll with the minis. It trades right up to expiration
Mark: Do you think the entry is very critical for a scalper? How do you control the risk of paying too much to the makret? Do you use limited order?
138 x 138 = 1712.5 euro(gross) 1464.1 euro(net) $2111.5 U.S. (gross) $1805 U.S.(net) I didn't trade very much today. I didn't get much rest yesterday and was exhuasted by 2am last night. I traded the first 90 min. then took a nap until 8:00 am. I traded the DAX while the U.S. was open for about the first 60 min., I'm just too tired to go any longer. So, I'm calling it quits a little early today. DISCLAIMER: Past results are not necessarily indicative of future results. Yes, entry is very critcal for a scalper, one or two ticks can make me stay in or get out of a trade. So, if I can get a good entry I have more room to give my trade. I mostly use limit oreders. I bid and offer to enter a trade about 80% of the time. The rest of the time I hit the bid of lift the offer, but rarely use market orders to enter a trade. I mostly use market orders to exit trades.
It seems you make profit every other day, on average you can make about $2k a day. Can you make about 200K per year? Contrary to many people told me, it seems possible to make a living by scalping. Nice one!
