He must be desperate for money to work on sunday huh? not a good sign when a brokerage/clearing targeting small traders offering cheap commission and need to work on sunday to help pay bills.

  2. emg, I must applaud you. You have taken non-discrimination in pooping over other people to a new level altogether

  3. If I got a flood of new account requests, from people bailing out of Velocity, I'd work on Sunday, too.

In any case, my primary relationship is with Crossland, now. As long as they behave themselves, I'll stick with them.

    What a load of crap

emg - I used to think you got higher education but with above comment you are denigrating the way highly educated people think or work. Highly educated people - who go mit, stanford etc. work their asses off even on weekends when they are in school. In corporate america, yes they get weekends free, but when they are running their own small firms, again they work their weekends off.

DDT guy working on weekends shows me commitment (don't care if he is highly educated or not) and your above comment shows me your arrogance, foolishness and your tendency to type irresponsible statements here on ET.

  5. I have been with DDT for a while. Howard has always been a 24/7 kind of guy. IMHO, He works because he is committed to customer service, which is what sets an IB apart.

  6. Weatherman ... as you will realize more and more over time, Howard is the best. He loves the business, has total respect for the customer and is creative as hell; if you have a problem he'll work hard to get it resolved.

For those of you who are dead set on Advantage they have exclusive access to my favorite feed Rithmic hooked up to Ninja. No one but Advantage and their IB's offers Rithmic with Ninja. Ninja is not a platform I like but, if you do, try it with Rithmic; it is the best feed I have ever used.

For those of you that use bracket orders in treacherous markets -- SI, GC, CL etc. -- Rithmic has a crucial advantage over almost every other feed. If you execute through either their R/Trader or R/Trader Pro (it doesn't matter what platform provides your visuals although Pro does provides charting) your brackets are managed on and by Rithmic's servers. If you think about what that can mean in a crisis it is a very significant difference from bracket management from your hardware.

We all know even the rumor that the Straight of Hormuz is closed can send CL up $5 in less than a second. I don't tend to use preset profit targets, just a stop that requires no management whether I adjust it or not so I can be relaxed and confident with Sierra Charts, a platform I like a great deal. But if I were using brackets in those markets -- particularly CL -- you can bet I'd be using a version of R/Trader to get the order management off my hardware.

    Food for thought.

Howard my birthday is 12/28 ... I'm expecting something nice this year for plugging Deep Discount sooooooo hard ... lol. Just teasing. It is, my friend, my pleasure. I hope others follow Weatherman's lead. Using your firm's services is a decision no one will regret!!

  7. Swan, Question to you about Rithmic. DDT has SierraChart, which can work with either TT or Rithmic. Problem is, that raises r/t cost by 30 cents (Rithmic over TT). I would think that will add up pretty quickly...

I use Sierra with TT feed at Velocity, and if I do move, I was thinking of staying with the same combo. I just love the way Sierra does tick data backfill. My charting is something I have now taken for granted, and would never consider anything less. Not sure if Sierra would backfill the same way with Rithmic - it probably will since the backfill is provided by Sierra's data farm (yes, they have a historic data farm for backfill)

Now I just need to convince myself that the 30 cent r/t extra "insurance" is worth it, but is having a hard time with that...

Edit: Not entirely sure the bracket management will be server side if Sierra is used with Rithmic feed. If so, that would mean a platform change from Sierra to Rithmic. That would be _very_ hard

  8. You can power SC and R/Trader simultaneously with the Rithmic feed so I have, in times past, used SC as my charting and R/Trader to execute thereby taking advantage of the server side management on R/Trader executed trades. But, as you, suggest, if you execute through SC there is no server side management of brackets.

Rithimic also does not allow tick backfill data through SC with Deep Discount. It does with Advantage and its IB's and, of course, always has it with all brokers on it's own series of R platforms. For many, my guess is you included, this will be a deal breaker. I leave my charts up always and have it tick by tick in house that way. My setting is tick and I only keep three days of it. It's not a research tool for me. It sounds like you will opt for TT as it works well for you.

As to cost: Everyone will do their own calculations. For guys that are scalping all day the $.30 on the margin can/will be prohibitive. For me it is a minor expense that seems larger because of the a la carte nature of DeepDiscount's pricing. I like the way you can assemble the package you want knowing the cost of the components. I used to compare my ticks to Al Brooks' and, with Rithmic, mine were consistently a touch faster than his Trade Station feed. To me the feed is key. I've seen crap feeds produce bars that were "almost" reality and that just doesn't work for me.

That said, if I were trading a 100 RT daily or better, it certainly would matter. In fact I'm not doing that so the incremental cost works for me. Many will make a different judgement. But with Howard's way you have choices galore and I love that.

  9. In the preceeding post I meant to say Vision not Advantage regarding the Rithmic options available.

  10. Done moving from Velocity to Crossland/DeepDiascountTrading

This is not something I wanted to do. But, since no one in the chain from CME down can anymore be trusted, I have to do what I need to do :(
