Various account info in ToS

  1. Can someone please explain the difference between Total Cash vs Net Liq & Day Trades vs Unsettled Cash vs Available Funds For Trading inside Thinkorswim? I'm practicing with some paper trading some commodities futures, but these numbers are all different. Is Total Cash the main one I should pay attention to for now? Thanks a lot.

Quick google turned that up for ya.
Not a TOS user but this stuff is all pretty standard across most brokers, few different terms here and there.

Total cash I would assume is the same as the cash balance in that link. That should be your account balance.

NetLiq and DayTrades, if it corresponds to their description in that link, should be a huge number, they have a limit on the max funds you can day trade with.

Unsettled cash is funds waiting to be to be settled. Stocks are t+3 meaning it takes 3 business days for a transaction to settle. You wouldn't be able to withdraw unsettled funds. So you buy and sell a bunch of stocks today, you'd need to wait 3 days for the funds to settle before you can withdraw those funds used.

Available funds looks like it pertains to cash accounts only. Since theirs no margin being used, you can't trade with unsettled funds so it'd be your account balance - unsettled cash I would think in TOS.

Another link that will probably come in handy.
