    Most indicators do NOT repaint.
By repaint, they mean it changes in the past, not just for the candle being created. For this buy/sell arrow indi, the arrow was at point A then 5 candles later the same arrow is at point B. THAT is a repaint.

A moving average will NOT move after the candle closes. The math is final after a candle closes so the moving average cannot move/repaint. The MA only wiggles up/down for the current candle being created.
5 SMA = (candle1 + candle2 + candle3 + candle4 + candle5)/5 (closing price of each candle) The math will not change after candle close so the MA will not move/repaint. It doesn't use any future data to determine it's location.

Pretty sure VWAP will not repaint as it's basically a MA based upon price & volume with volatility bands. After the candle closes, the historical volume/price won't change.

So for this indicator that gives buy/sell arrows, the arrows move after a while depending upon the new data. I didn't test it to find out so just going by what the article says.

There are several indicators that DO repaint though such as TMA, though there are some TMA that won't repaint. Most repaint indis are used by forex traders though IMO. MT4 has several repainting indis. MT4 has a TMA (repaint) and TMA.true (non-repaint).

Years ago when I first started with forex I was backtesting an indi that looked very good. It was only later I realized it repainted. :( Completely useless for backtesting if an indi repaints.

This is not correct. A moving average is based on the average of the last XXX number of bars, NOT the last bar, so a moving average will move after the last bar closes. Your math, sir, is incorrect.

Moving averages repaint, period. The only indicators that will not by definition repaint are indicators that are based on something that does not decrease - for example, an indicator that prints after a certain volume on a bar is reached will NOT repaint, as the volume on a bar can't go down, but only up.

Did you read the article I attached?
Do a quick search & you'll find plenty more articles.
Do the math. After a candle closes the MA will NOT move because the math does NOT use future candles. You used volume because is doesn't change. Well, a candle close doesn't change either. Future candles are NOT included in the average. The average uses CLOSED candles only.
Please post even 1 more person/article that says MAs repaint.
