Using NTBACKUP to backup eSignal etc.

Discussion in 'Networking and Security' started by learner2007, Feb 5, 2008.

  1. Would someone please help me with this.

I must reinstall WIN. XP. That is no problem. However,
I have a large number of applications in program files
that would take a week to install and set up again from
    scratch.
My question is if I backup eSignal, Zone Alarm etc. to
'Program Files' in NTBACKUP, when I restore them, will
they function with all the settings intact. My reason for
questioning this is that I don't know if the backup includes
the registry settings that I imagine would be required
for these applications to function after restoring them.

Thank you for any information you may provide.

I recently re-installed windows XP. After a couple of attempts I found it worked when I installed Xp, then SP2, then ran NTBackup restore. I used the "replace existing files if they are older than the backup files" option (the other options didn't work), and restored everything else on my drive.

My backup copy included "System State", which is a ntbackup option which includes registry files etc.

My desktop icons were messed up, and I had to install an updated driver to my video card to get proper resolution on the screen, but otherwise a perfect restore!
