Using BTC to buy stuff

Discussion in 'Crypto Assets' started by long, Feb 24, 2024.

  1. Are you seriously this deluded about bitcoin? Is it against the law to buy an etf? Is it against the law to buy a house with bitcoin, buy a car, take out an equity loan, pay a contractor with bitcoin? Is it against the law to use it as a store of value? Is it against the law for an entire country to use it as their official currency? Yes are we forgetting that El Salvador uses bitcoin as their official currency. Let that sink in for a minute. An entire county abandoned its fiat to adopt Bitcoin.

I’m not a crypto bro, just someone looking for favorable risk/reward ratio.

The guy who wrote Number Go Up claims that most of El Salvador wants dollars and they are pissed at the government for that policy.

  5. Against the law? No. But are people using it in that manner in any meaningful way? No, even after all these years and all the hype.

El Salvador? That’s all you got? You need a new hymn book.

  7. I have a few BTC to my name still (almost all that I bought I donated actually). Yet nobody would sell me a house in any reasonable place without me exchanging it into fiat. Show me a contractor that takes crypto? Show me a car dealer besides Tesla that takes crypto? Show me ANY use that does not require conversion to fiat and does not automatically trigger an audit by the tax authorities?!
The whole reason it’s used as a store of value is because of the shadow economy and various crises around the world. That is the main and the only real use case. What used to be gold coins up someone’s ass now is BTC

Is Amazon stock useless? Is Monet worth $100M useless? Is 10 kilos of Gold bars in a safe useless?

They are investment store of value asset. The whole world uses store of value assets to combat fiat currency debasements. Most used store of value asset is real estate

Microstrategy is showing the world how valuable bitcoin is as a store of value, treasury asset

I doubt you own any bitcoins, you most likely sold all your bitcoins when it was very low and you are a very bitter nocoiner

And there is nothing wrong with bitcoin as a currency, 1 bitcoin can purchase over $51,000 cuckbuck$ right now with plenty of liquidity 24/7/365

Oh and this will show how much a fucking stupid idiot moron you are, a transfer of $1.3B worth for a $2 fee, can you do that with any asset? gold? bonds? fiat?

  9. You know, there was a time you used to be a normal person, but now welcome to my ignore list. You are the first one there, so it's a rare honor.

For others, not on ignore. I own some BTC at the moment but most I have donated back in 2021 when it hit 20k for the second time. I am also a founder of a crypto trading firm, not because I am a crypto believer but because it's an opportunity to make money (*)

What I said is perfectly factual. It's been a decade and BTC is still has not practical use in the everyday world. Even the Afghan peasants who use crypto as a way to protect their savings use stablecoin. The whole hurr-burr about it being a great store of value is the usual deal with a bull market making everyone look like a genius.

    * I have a vegan friend who primarily trades meat/cattle futures - my relationship with crypto is exactly the same

    Thank you for the honor

When was the last time you purchased groceries with your Amazon stock or Apple stock?

Bitcoin is the most liquid store of value asset in the whole world, accepted in just about any country and anyone who believes bitcoin is useless is a fucking moron who has never traveled outside of the hillbilly country where they are from

Bitcoin can purchase fiat currencies at all time high conversion in 15 countries including Japan, have you heard of Japan? It's like 4th biggest gdp or something

Bitcoin is the best money in the history of mankind, ponder that for a few hours
