To expand a bit on Darc's answer to this question... They cannot see your posts, so that is that, there is no reply to be made. HOWEVER, there is an "undocumented feature" that if their post is the last one in the thread they will show up with their username but with a blank box. If you hit reply to THAT, you will see what they typed and can quote and respond to it. However, again, that is fruitless, because they will not see what you posted, and you will not see their quote in your reply.
It's been documented by many here in the feedback section especially by me with many images since the beginning of the Pandemic. Simply, those on my ignore/block list will see my last post by either clicking on the "last message post" icon or by subscribing to the thread prior to my last message post in the thread. As you stated, I will only see their user name and a blank message post until I click the "reply" below their blank message post. The real problem is when I start my own threads and they then search my user name for my threads for the sole purpose to troll me in my own threads by abusing the last message post icon because they can not subscribe to the thread due to the fact I have them on ignore/block. I've alerted ET management to the above involving my threads. Nothing was done about it and that only left me with one option only...to request my thread to be closed when the troll continues after I politely asked the troll to stop...he/she doesn't and I then rudely asked the troll to stop...he/she continues replying (quoting) my messages while he/she is blocked... I had no choice but to close my thread that was about trading...not about politics or anything else in the Community Lounge section to prevent the trolling in my own thread. Until that "last message post" icon is fixed...many of us will no longer start another thread anywhere here at the forum especially in the trading threads because that's where most of the abuse is occurring with the "last message post icon". In contrast, trolling another member in the Political threads is obviously allowed and if someone doesn't like it...don't go into the Political threads or anywhere else in the Community Lounge. wrbtrader
If you block someone, that someone that you blocked won't see your posts at all; your posts are completely invisible to them so there is no way that they can reply to you. Of course when they have no life and are pathetic enough, they can log off and then peruse the forum then they will see your posts (basically stalking you) but they still won't be able to reply to you or quote your post because they are not logged in. If you start a thread, the person that you blocked can still see the title and the first few lines of your starting post when they hover their mouse over it when the thread is on the forum front page but they won't see the entire post and when you go to their thread, they still won't see your post but you are able to post in their thread. They won't be fully aware that they are blocked unless you openly announce it but they would be able to suspect that they are blocked if they can only see a portion of your post when you start a thread and that they can never see your posts in other people's thread when other people are mentioning your posts or names or etc. and yet they can see your posts when they log off to peruse the forum.
Wow never knew that. This still does not explain how the posts of my best friend that I have put on "Ignore" and blocked all of sudden just became visible to me in other people's threads TWICE when I have not modified my profile setting in any way to take him/it off Ignore/block. I mean he/it is my best friend, why would I all of sudden take him/it off "Ignore/block"? LOL This forum is a great forum but is way too lenient with people who abuse features and rules here imo. I am starting to believe what @Option_Attack said earlier:
I never take anyone off my ignore/block list after they make the list. Yet, there's a glitch that shows up once in a while...a username suddenly is no longer on my list. I think it happens when there are changes in the forum coding that are occurring in the background that we do not know anything about. I then put the person back on ignore/block...problem solved. wrbtrader
I have people that I cannot put on my ignore list. But I don't see them. I think it has to do with that person who blocked me first. MarkBrown is one of them. Cannot block him but he is blocked.
I have only taken ONE person off my Ignore/block list after they've made the list, just ONE and so far I am not regretting it. But that's the very strange part, as soon as I noticed the posts that were not supposed to be there, I checked and I posted the screenshots, his/its name was still on my Ignore/block list and it happened twice like this. So this creature was taken off my Ignore/block list just to have the his/its post visible to me and then was put back onto the list immediately afterward due to some unknown code changes? That's very strange.
I am stating when YOU notice you're able to mysteriously see the message posts of someone you have on your ignore/block while your ignore/block list still displays their name... There's a coding issue (a glitch). To fix it...just unblock the person (remove the person from your ignore/block list) and then block the person again. It will fix the glitch. Repeat the process whenever it happens again. wrbtrader
