What about a video splitter? Sort of like a router but it has up to 8 ports for muliple monitors. Is this only good for displaying the same image on all the monitors, or can you put different images on each monitor? http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A0542635
I think CAD is a special case. Nvidia has one FX quad model... you can buy it online for the low, low price of $2,695 (plus s/h, I'm sure) Imagine... a VIDEO CARD for $2,700!
I haven't seen that product before, but it strikes me a one where you might use it in a presentation environment for multiple sites... all monitors showing the same. Besides, video cards are cheaper if you get them used on eBay.
Here's the stats on my pc available slots I have 1 PCI-E x16 - available 1 PCI-E x1 available & 1 PCI available The other PCI slot is taken up by a wireless nic card What/which video cards can go into what/which slots? Thanks
You will need 1, 285 PCIEx16, + either a 285x1 or 280 PCI. I've tried all the combinations and they all work just fine. (I even tried the 285x1 as the primary, but my TV tuner card didn't like that.)
Thanks again gnome. I'll see what I can find out there. It seems that ATI Radeon 256 mb cards might work for me
Lots of things will work... some won't. Gaming cards are not the best choice for trading.... they run hot, have noisy cheesy fans, etc.
No, there are some excellent passively cooled dual-head cards avialable with nVidia or ATi chips on them. I use them all the time and they are flawless.
