Going to keep watching UsdJpy. Equities had a sell off Friday, Yen strengthened. Normal pullback or start of weakness? I'm leaning bearish equities, bullish USD ex jpy going into next week. Saw some pretty volatile trading in the currencies for a Friday afternoon. That behavior keeps sticking to me. My mentor called it a Burr.
In response to an earlier post from treeman--I daytrade mostly because my attention span is about 15 minutes. I'm always looking at longer tf charts, and I wouldn't trade without them. My belief is that there are lots of trend traders in the currencies, so I like to watch what they are doing. That doesn't mean they are all smart. If I see an obvious level get taken out I'm aware that there's often a counter move of about 30 plus points. That's the low risk entry, after the stops get taken out. Then it's just watching the market for quality. If it takes out a level and doesn't look back, well that's information too.
Short EUR 1.1739, Aussie .7269, long USD Cad 1.2929. Still short USD Jpy. Just think a risk-off move is brewing.
The risk off move hit equities early, but usdjpy went north instead of South. Waiting for more information. I can't see any trade right now.
