The previous Usdcad short trade from above 1.3020 I held from Sunday night till Tuesday morning, trading in and out. Took some heat but had strong conviction. At the time it was lagging EUR and Aussie badly and I got to watch them go up while Cad went sideways and down. I felt like Charlie Brown on Halloween getting a rock while everyone else got candy.
Yes. Still having discipline self sabotage problems. Was up big percent the other morning and gave most of it back. Posting here helps. I refuse to scale up until that gets better, but I could. Paper trading is meaningless. I need to be able to read my own emotions and those of the market. Anyway i continue to grow. I wish i had taken the summer completely off. It just doesnt have the same character and liquidity and is much harder to read.
It seems that overtrading is always a problem for daytraders, just goes with the territory. You either manage it well or it kills you. I have made a conscious effort to stand aside more and more, only putting on trades where I see a break. Meditation helps.
Yeah, I'm not saying day trading is impossible, but it's for the birds. You make make more money position trading - that's especially true in the currencies. I only ask because you seem to be in and out and switching positions regularly. While the whole time I've been short the Euro and the Yen. I'm within a whisker of being stopped out of the Euro though. If it breaks through (e6) 1.181, it's going to run higher (not sure how much). That would be consistent with the recent strength in commodities. What I'm really wrestling with right now is - can both commodities and the dollar get stronger at the same time? Clearly the answer is yes, but it's a tall order. For that reason I think the dollar is about to drop. It can do that and still keep it's uptrend (since 2014) still intact though. Time will tell. I suspect I'll be out of the Euro soon (I've been short since April)
Flat. Out of Euro 1.1760. Sometimes I trade better when I just set it up and go to sleep. That way when it works I let the profits run. Now comes the hard part--sitting on my hands
Long usdjpy 1.1219. Small. Looking at Euro, I've noticed that after a good trend from London open, you get nothing but chop after New York open. Especially on Friday. Waiting for the steam roller to take some more victims.
