Wow I go away for awhile and nobility shows up. Maybe I should go away more often. Anyway, welcome. And I did notice the chart pattern, the flag that started to ascend to the right. Looks like the previous pattern has been broken now.
Yes. Well said. My only question now, having missed the latest part of the move, is where do I get in and what's my stop? Patience, I guess is the key. Asking myself whether the retracement will be quick and violent, or drawn out.
Somewhere in this thread I was talking about the bond market blowup of, I think, 1994. It was right around there. I went to California from New England with one of my mentors to see "S.S". They were in the office building right on the beach in Santa Monica. The one in the beginning of Baywatch. Anyway they were considering hiring us only because they had just lost about a half billion or so in the markets and were looking for guidance. It never panned out, but I can't forget how that move just blindsided a lot of people. Everyone remembers stock market blowup, not so much bonds. Maybe because we've been in a bond bull market all of my adult life. But I do remember 15 percent! Seems impossible now.
This last move seemed to start with Cad. When I came back there were some Canadians on the dock next to me, with a beautiful 50 plus ft sailboat, all handmade in aluminum by the owner. Down below each salon had a different type of wood, but it was really tastefully done. It dwarfed my little boat. Anyway, we were talking currencies and it looked then like the Loonie was going to really strengthen. I was short UsdCad, my first trade in awhile. It worked for awhile. Then the reversal after BOC. It seems these double reversals are the best trades, though rare.
Missed the short in NZD above .7150. Had been watching it and got busy with something else. Might short a little with a big stop. Hmmm. .7124 last.
Sold the tinyest amount at .7124, stop .7162. My thinking is that any rally above .7140 would present too much of an opportunity right now. And Im looking for some real bloodletting. Soon.
I'm trying to contain myself, but it just looks and feels like an irrational situation, where the markets overshoot. Whenever you think it can't go any further, it does. So there's no way to wait for a setup in the short TF. Of course, I could also be the lone turkey at the poker table. I've thought about that too.
