Republicans Love Trump’s Spending Cuts. Just Not in Their States.

In the House, a group of Republicans from farm states and districts introduced legislation this week that aims to salvage a foreign aid program targeted for extinction by Mr. Trump as part of his effort to wipe out the U.S. Agency for International Development.

American growers sold about $713 million of goods to Food for Peace program in the 2023 fiscal year.

Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio, whose state has received more than $1 billion in N.I.H. research grants.

Seems that without Massive US Gov funding..there will be ZERO FARM RESEARCH > ever to be done again..ALL RESEARCH HAS ENDED..TODAY. These Universities charge $50,000 per year in tuition and still need huge subsidies to do research???

What a fcking horrible sht show..the long lines of US Groups that have been standing in line for Hand outs...constant, daily handouts. Like children waiting for their allowance.

USA is very very close to a full on communist country today. And its all predicated on Printing massive Fiat. $3 trillions of fiat per year.

Yes..Farmers require huge subsidies each year in USA. And they really arent farmers. Most of it is corp owned farming. And Corp owned, automated, mechanized farming was supposed to require ZERO SUBSIDIES because of efficiencies of scale.

If I was trump, I would slash 100% of ALL SUBSIDIES that involve any corp activity.

The OP is about small independent farmers now at risk of losing their farms to Big Ag.
Some of these farmers aren't subsidized at all. One example is a family farmer losing a major Canadian buyer who is now choosing to buy from Brazil due to the uncertanities created by the current administration.

Subsidies go hand in hand with tariffs.

wait. So we paid for the tariffs? I thought China and Mexico paid for the tarrifs.
    Sounds about right.

my favor it e thing Biden did was to call out congresspeople who voted against his infrastructure bill and then claimed credit for it.
