Well, the object of this post - indeed, the object of Kut trying to pick a fight, is the proposition that the Federal Government of the United States should be re-distributing wealth to such an extent that there are no real perceptable differences in living standards and no 'poor'.

As if the Scandanavian countries would declare universal amnesty for tens of millions of undocumented illegals who entered the country as grown adults with little or no education - and then subsidized a middle-class existence for them and their offspring.

Do Scandanavian countries have generations of single mothers who have no interest in really doing anything beyond procreation and collecting benefits ? And how does giving them more benefits induce the motivation to change their behaviors ?

Wrong again on all counts. Asking for the rich to not have all the political power the way they already have most of the economic power is not akin to communism. Corporations are NOT people, and they need to be regulated or they quickly revert to sociopathic actions. This isn't theory, this is fact, historical as well as current. We had at one point not very long ago the potential to eliminate poverty in the USA. That potential has likely been squandered but that doesn't mean we should continue down the road where the rich get richer at the expense of everybody else. If this is "class warfare", so be it. A lot of plutocrats and their political toadies have been waging war on the middle class for decades now, it's well time for the middle class to start fighting back.

  4. I think those polls are way off. To say child poverty in the US is almost the same as in mexico? I've been to mexico and you see street kids all the time asking for money. When was the last time you had a kid ask you for money in the US?

  6. That guy really is looney tunes. "Eliminate poverty". It reminds me of the six year olds whose greatest wish is "world peace". Sorry, but the human condition basically ensures that self-interest trumps all else. Hence, war and poverty are a certainty.
