I think there is less than 1% chance trump will do more harm than hillary would have or Obama did. He was not my first choice but I would have voted from every other candidate from either party including bernie over hillary. So, even I I were scammed I am still happy. So happy I do not have to see Hillary clinton representing out country. lying her ass off during photo ops. Picking supreme ct justices. Telling me I should fell guilty about stuff so she and the dems in congress can get more votes.
Go ahead use tax dollars to stop illegal immigration. As long as we are actually trying our best to keep terrorist out we should all be happy. (I know you know this gwb.) It was a symbol.
Tarriffs put income in the govt pockets... hopefully instead of income taxes and produce jobs at home. Done properly they are far better for a country than no tariffs and income taxes. Look folks we have been taught a lot of b.s. in econ glasses. Free trade is not really free trade if you are allowing your country to be targeted... Its wealth extraction. Being the world's currency does not work if your private Central Bank reaped the benefit of sending trilions of your Dollars around the world. How the hell did our dollar get weaker when the world was demanding it. Our dollar should have become so strong we were buying up other countries for nothing. Instead it depreciated 700 percent the last 50 years. That means our people were screwed out of serious wealth. We must all rethink the "givens" we though we knew. Free trade has not been good for the average U.S. citizen the last 30 years. We took in 60 million people and we exported millions of jobs and trillions in wealth.
Excerpted From the Suday Jan 3, 2017 LA Times: Op-Ed Trump is completely wrong about the U.S. trade deficit ...Virtually all economists support free trade and oppose protectionism. For example, a 2014 University of Chicago survey found that 93% of the country's top economists agreed with the statement “Past major trade deals have benefited most Americans” and none disagreed (7% were uncertain)... ... you could make a strong case that China “lost” last year on trade with America, not vice versa. After all, we acquired $482 billion of merchandise made in China and they acquired only $116 billion of merchandise made in the U.S., for a net merchandise surplus of $366 billion in our favor. China “lost” a net amount of $366 billion of goods that ended up being consumed and enjoyed by Americans. It would also be accurate to say that China gained a net amount of $366 billion worth of U.S. currency, the exact amount of the trade deficit. But what happened to those dollars? They aren't sitting idly somewhere. On the contrary, they quickly came back into the U.S. as a capital inflow to purchase America's financial assets like corporate stock and bonds, real estate, bank deposits and Treasury securities, and as foreign direct investment in America's factories and businesses. ... I'm not sure it is a net long range benefit to us to sell our hard assets, e.g., real estate, to china, however I do like the idea of letting them chip in to help finance our continuous wars.
Who cares if U.S. citizens have to pay for the wall. Having millions of people here illegally getting welfare, schooling for their children and healthcare as well as clogging the prison system is getting very expensive. We pay either way, with or without the wall. Just as a token gesture I am in favor of the wall.
For those of us who followed his campaign, Trump said all along either the Mexican Government pays or companies who manufacture in mexico pay the tariff which builds the wall. I'm fine with that. Sorry you didn't follow Trumps election campaign.
Exactly. Wtf are they complaining about. Which politician in recent memory even spoke of a wall. Gimmie a break. We're getting a 3 foot high ice cream sundae and yelps complain about not enough cherrys on top.
Trump never said that making Mexico pay for the wall will be concurrent with the building of the wall. Mexico taking care of its own people instead of the USA paying for them is actually a form of "making Mexico pay". There are many forms of "making them pay". Honestly I could care less who pays for it, the Government always wastes my tax money, now they might as well spend it on something that I like which is a Wall. I rather spend my tax money on a Wall instead of using it to help bring in refugees from Somalia and Syria.
You mean the private prison system (tax payer funded) that saw a 40% stock jump on Trump's election after Obama was about to scrap it? The same system that lobbied hard to remove due process for undocumented and increase incarceration time instead of them waiting at home for their day at court? Yeah, they're against illegal immigration alright.
What kind of argument is that? Thats like saying, I have two chicks to choose from, I am going to have sex with the one who will give me herpes, because the other one might give me AIDS. What a great choice.
