https://finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-tariffs-cost-2020-research-151755274.html Trump tariffs are set to cost U.S. households $2,000 in 2020, research group finds Tariffs are expected to cost American households more than $2,000 per year in 2020, according to a recent report from the National Foundation for American Policy (NFAP). The Arlington-based nonprofit — which looked at the effect of tariffs on the overall economy and consumers — estimated that by the end of 2019, the trade duties imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump “will have cost the average household $1,315 over a two-year period.”
I am on your side, but tariffs are paid by the importer. The increased cost is either passed on to the consumer, or comes off of the importers bottom line. https://www.forbes.com/sites/howard...hat-is-a-tariff-and-who-pays-it/#5366d763137b When Trump says China pays for tariffs, he could possibly be referring to a lower Chinese GDP. That said, I believe President Clinton giving a freedom-hating Communist country "most favored nation" status was akin to treason (technically not treason). https://spectator.org/chinagate-and-the-clintons/
Haha I was going to say WTF because that did not sound like you. As someone who imports from China, the bill was coming to me. What Trump and many fucktards dont realize is that the real purpose of the tariff is to provide a disincentive to buy those goods and divert hopefully buying towards local made. Punative tariffs are not a source of income from the exporting country you are trying to punish but a tax on importers who pay it. The goal is to make the imported product too expensive and reduce purchases or equalize pricing with domestic products to shift buying to local made. The fact that supposedly intelligent people in the Administration keep pushing the lie that China is paying the tariff and US importers and consumers are bot paying shows the level of stupidity in this country. I deal with China and trust me..I am getting the bill..not China.
I thought that it would be too subtle, which is why I posted https://www.elitetrader.com/et/thre...s-consumers-not-for-long.335737/#post-4922403 to explain the sarcasm with a bit less subtlety. It didn't work for some, hehe.
I have not seen enough of your posts to get your sarcasm, because many people are saying exactly what you said.
And https://www.elitetrader.com/et/thre...umers-not-for-long.335737/page-3#post-4922691 is mostly the foundation of my sarcasm, in my "expounding" post.
