Could someone please advise where i can obtain historical US economic data.

Particularly interest rate data pre 1950's (1900-1950)

The St Louis Fed site only has Fed Funds data from 1954, unless i'm missing something?
Were base interest rate called something different back then maybe?

    Thanks

  3. Have you looked at Homer and Sylla, "A History of Interest Rates"?

Also, http://www.thechartstore.com has data from 1914 forward.

Also, the Bureau of the Census has historical data 1900 to 2002 at http://www.census.gov/statab/hist/HS-39.pdf. You can see from what they don't have for the early years that the information just wasn't being collected or didn't exist.

None of this is as convenient as FRED, but it's the best I know about.
