  1. Thank you.

And I did not read Wealth of Nations, but I did read Road to Surfdom.

Socialism is a bad idea, period. Those parts of our nation that are socialistic suffer according in relation to other aspects of our nation.

  2. Without having lived in such a system, I'm afraid you guys aren't qualified to make informed comments on it :D
    I have lived in both.
And yes, I have read Wealth of Nations. They made us read it during the undergrad econ program, back in the ruins of the former USSR.
In either case, this IS my last post here, so enjoy your attacks guys.

  3. I'm not attacking anyone, Vlad, when I say, categorically, that socializm is enslaving and is against the natural law. Nothing personal, my good man (person). So long.

It has been a while, but I seem to recall that Adam Smith describes the advantage of having a money supply that is expandable/contractable, as essential for a growing economy. Don't really think that a dollar cemented to the supply of any commodity will fit that bill.

Austria controls their borders, they have no racial problems bacause there is one race living there, they have no crime problems because they are a controlled society, the kids do as the elders tell them, etc. In the US socialism will never work, the politicians know it and they just ride the wave and line their pockets and all the lazy criminal garbage in the US just goes along for the ride and uses the system to subsidize their criminal activities.

  5. freedom means freedom to fail as well as to succeed. to be guaranteed sustenance is not freedom. In fact, it is a living death. The upside is stricly limited. It's a great system for people who think life is all about comfort and pleasure.

But of course, it's the people who love hard work that wind up paying for it.

It all gets down to this: who do you want running your life? You or some elitist beaurocrat? And do you see yourself as fit to run other people's lives? You might want to ask them how they feel about it.

Do you want to be told what you are to give your time to support? Or do you prefer to make that decision yourself?

Do you think the right to make those decisions should be fought for, should someone somewhere decide to make those decisions for you?

You ought to, because freedom is life. And it's your life, not some committee's in Belgium.
