https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...etected-South-Africa-mutated-variant-far.html New Covid variant detected in South Africa has already been found in England as scientists warn it is the 'most mutated variant so far' C.1.2 strain linked with 'increased transmissibility' and 'could be more infectious' Variant first detected in South Africa and also been found in England and China New strain has a mutation rate of about 41.8 mutations per year, scientists say A coronavirus variant first detected in South Africa 'could be more infectious' than other mutations and have the potential to 'evade vaccines', scientists have said. The virus was first identified by scientists in South Africa in May and has since been found in England, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mauritius, New Zealand, Portugal and Switzerland. In April, scientists found another South African strain — called B.1.351 — had the potential to 'break through' the Pfizer jab. Scientists examined 400 people who had tested positive for coronavirus at least 14 days after receiving one or two doses of the jab - and 400 who tested positive with no vaccine. The variant was eight times more prevalent in those who had two jabs than none. It was seen in 5.4 per cent of people with two doses - but 0.7 per cent of people without any.
LOL I guess they don’t realize where the vaccines were trialed? Exactly where the mutations started. UK, Brazil, Soutb Africa, India. WELL DONE IDIOTS
He posted misinformation...its best to ignore him because there have been +420 Covid trials in 60 different countries and they have not birthed a Variant of Concern. In comparison, the current list of Variants of Concern have specifically been identified in the specific individuals (the hosts)...persons not vaccinated, two immunocompromised and others use antiviral therapeutic drug treatment. Can a trial or lab produce a Variant of Concern ? Yes but that was not the case involving the birth of our current list of Variants of Concern. P.S. I'm concerned about our southern states of the United States of America. In my opinion, its high up on my list of possible locations for the next birth of a Variant of Concern. wrbtrader
Fauci once stated something like, "... if the vaccines lead to the development of ADE, that would be very bad..."
And what is the percent of vaccinated population in the localities where the variant has been found. Do we need to mention "base rate fallacy" again and explain it to you. Let's start with a simple diagram demonstrating the basics of taking a look at the total number of vaccinated people when comparing statistics. The same thing applies to statistics of the vaccinated percentage of a community being infected with a variant. If a the vaccinated are more prevalent in the community then they will have more cases but in reality a much lower percentage.
Scientists working on the Tel Aviv University study said their results suggested the vaccine is less effective against the South African variant - compared with the original coronavirus and the Kent variant. The B.1.351 has key mutations on its spike protein which scientists fear might make it difficult for the immune system to recognise. These alterations open the door to it being resistant to vaccines, which train the body to spot the spike protein, or natural immunity from previous infection.
So once again what percentage of the local population where the samples taken were vaccinated. Simply grabbing equal numbers of both is meaningless. Yes.. .the vaccines have been less effective against variants. However it still should be noted on a world-wide basis 99% of the people who get severely ill or die from Covid are unvaccinated.
Currently, I reside in North America. I'm more concerned about the fact that most of our Covid Hospitalizations, Covid ICU admissions, and Covid Deaths have been those NOT VACCINATED. It's a ridiculous crazy statistic that should be concerning to anyone living in North America not just for themself but for their friends or loved ones that they can infect if they too are NOT VACCINATED or can not be vaccinated in reference to our children under the age of 12. The latter above (children) is concerning too in the south because Pediatric Covid Hospitalizations and Covid ICU admission have risen to scary levels... it's mindboggling. Yet, the above is a different story in comparison to Variants of Concern birthplace. Just as important, I'm more interested in the birthplace of the current Variants of Concern that's causing those ridiculous crazy Covid statistics differences between those Vaccinated versus those Not Vaccinated here in North America. wrbtrader
