I know a guy who is an active retail options trader. He uses a wirehouse broker who seems to be pretty plugged in. The broker is telling him that they are seeing an unusual number of calls getting exercised pre-expiry. Some are clearly dividend plays, but many apparently are not. They are baffled. Anyone have any insight on this?
